Another whirlwind week has come and gone at the Lake. I’m starting to think I have some sort of crazy superpower, because one moment it’s Monday morning and I’m guzzling coffee like my life depends on it. Then I blink, and BOOM – it’s Friday again.
See? Superpower!
This week was extra special with the official end of school on Tuesday.
I’m not sure how we survived this crazy year of COVID restrictions, but we did. It was by the sheer grace of God that my children – and I have five of them for those of you who don’t know – never had to quarantine.
None of them.
And now, on to summer and all the fun that it entails!
In other school-related news, the High School Boys golf team is currently at the State Tournament, and I just saw this morning that the Girls team qualified as well. Kudos to these awesome kiddos!
Tomorrow morning, Clear Lake will be invaded by one of the rarest species around… Triathletes! The 5th annual TRI Clear Lake takes place Saturday morning. There are 550 racers registered for the event, which switched things up a bit this year.
In the past, the swim portion was held out at State Beach. This year, it was moved downtown to City Beach which means the transition area will be downtown as well, right along with the finish line. If you’ve never witnessed this incredible event, I highly suggest stopping down on Saturday morning. OR – volunteer along the bike course! We still need a few people to man the intersections. It’s an easy job, doesn’t take very long, and you get to catch a glimpse of the athletes pedal by at full speed.

In other big news around town, Skip’s Kicks officially opens this weekend. A new business right on Main Ave, offering high end running shoes, casual shoes, and boots for men, women, and children. They also offer personal fitting and have a treadmill to be able to try out your new shoes before leaving the store!
