My list of items to include in this week’s “Feel Good Friday” blog post just kept getting longer and longer as the days went by.  My scribbles covering the notebook page every time something awesome happened around town.  I suppose it’s a sign summer has officially arrived at the Lake, right?

So, in case you missed it, here’s a rundown of all the awesomeness around town this week.

First up, TRI Clear Lake was a HUGE success.  Even though Mother Nature threw us a bit of a curveball with those cold (and I mean COLD) temperatures Saturday morning, the race directors were able to roll with the punches and still pulled off the greatest TRI to date!

There were 550 athletes registered for the event.  With the water being a chilly sixty-two-degree Saturday morning, they offered the option of doing a duathlon, which is run, bike, run.  Impressively, however, most athletes stuck with the swim portion and toughed out the cold waters.  All in all, it was a fantastic morning downtown Clear Lake.

Also this week, the Youth Athletic League kicked off their summer baseball and softball season.  It’s been a flurry of activity out at the fields as our little Clear Lakers learns the ins and outs of the game!  If you’re able, I highly suggest popping out there to watch sometime.  Grab a bag popcorn or a hot dog and ENJOY!

Thursday was a big day for the Chamber.  We have spent the last few months updating our Visitor Center and held an open house with ribbon cutting as a kickoff before Thursdays on Main.  It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint and some new décor can do for a space!  It had been a long time coming on this project and a much-needed improvement to welcome our many visitors and guests to the Lake!

Incidentally, there will be another Open House on Saturday from 10am-4pm if you’d like to pop by and check it out.  Our gift shop is fully stocked with fun Clear Lake gear, and there will be refreshments!

And then… after a full year hiatus… Thursdays on Main was BACK!  Strike Theater provided the special entertainment, the Midwest Rock ‘n Soul Revue played tunes for the evening, and the movie in the park was War with Grandpa.  The weather was nothing less than perfection.

Talk about a sight for sore eyes, seeing the people lining Main Ave and throughout City Park!

It’s never too early to begin planning for next week, when the Split Second Band plays and the movie in the park is Trolls World Tour.

Alas, the weekend is upon us once again.  Time to recharge our batteries and soak up all the fun we can in the two short days.  As the weather looks to be higher than average this weekend, it will be a great opportunity to check out the Clear Lake Aquatic Center, our awesome beaches, or the splash pad.  I expect the Lake to be hoppin’ as residents and visitors fill their tank with summer fun in the sun.

Thanks for another great week, Clear Lakers!
