Well, here we are again, my friends. We are officially on the cusp of summer. As yesterday was the final day my little minions got on the bus to school, I can’t help but have all the feels today as we begin summer break.
I’m excited.
I’m nervous.
I’m dreading the grocery bill for the next three months.
But most of all, I’m thankful my children were able to attend an ENTIRE year of school with as much normalcy as possible. Yes, things were a bit different. Yes, we all had to adjust. Regardless… we made it. Which, honestly, at the beginning of August, I wasn’t sure we would.
So today, I want to give a GREAT BIG SHOUT OUT to the teachers, faculty, and staff at Clear Lake Community School District. They went above and beyond, leaps and bounds higher than needed, in order to keep our kids in school this year.
And now, on to summer.
Ball games. BBQ’s. Boating. Beach Time. Walks along the seawall.
The list could go on and on and on. And after summer took a bit of a hiatus on us last year, I feel like this year needs to be DOUBLE the fun. I’m going to soak up every ounce of goodness I can this season. I’m going to let the sun turn my skin a nice, golden brown while I enjoy the beauty of our incredible lake. I don’t want to miss a single second of the 4th of July Extravaganza. I want to eat all the walking tacos and hotdogs I possibly can at Thursday’s on Main. And I want to catch every single show at the Surf Ballroom.
Basically, I’m going to all the things with 100% gusto, filling my tank with summer sun and fun and memories.
In the words of the great Olaf from Frozen… “I like to close my eyes and imagine what it’d be like when summer does come.”
So, I did just that. And I came up with this little ditty. Enjoy!
Kid’ll play, vacationers will come here to stay
‘Cuz Clear Lake hosts the best of times in summer.
Much fun will be had, the beach & the park, and the splash pad
All my favorite places to land in summer

Out on the boat a summer breeze will gently blow your hair
You’ll get sprayed by crazy jet ski riders, but you won’t care
I can’t wait, for the dark, when movies will play out in the park
And 4th of July with carnival rides this summer!

The events and the fun are both so intense
Put them together it just makes sense!
