It’s funny how even after a short week, Friday rolls around and the mood changes.  I go from the panic of “I’m never going to get everything done!” to the relaxed “Hey! It’s okay.  No worries here, friends!”

This Feel Good Friday edition comes to you from the front seat of my vehicle as I wait for my oldest at the orthodontist.  The sun is shining, my windows are down.  The cool, fall breeze is gently moving through the air as the birds chirp wildly in the background.

It’s a great time to be alive. Right?

That’s my philosophy these days, anyway.

I’ve officially given up following any sort of negativity and awfulness of the world.  No more for me, thank you very much.  I’ll take sunshine and light from here on out.  It’s such a happier way to live.

That being said, we’ve got a doozy of a weekend happening here at the Lake.  In case you missed it, the Clear Lake Fire Department is hosting a 9/11 Memorial Program, complete with food trucks, tours of the fire station, and lots of fun activities for the kids.

For more details, be sure to click on this blog post.

Also, to the delight of all those who have dreamed of being a pirate something, there is the Iowa-Minnesota Pirate Festival out at PM Park.  I wrote a fun little blog post about that one too, which you can check out here.

You should definitely read it so you can brush up on your pirate lingo before the weekend!

The Iowa Independent Film Festival continues through Saturday with films at Lake Theater.  Check out their website www.iifilmfestival.org for a complete listing of all the details.

And, for all of you lovers of rock ‘n roll, the ones who simply want someone to ‘put another dime in the jukebox, baby’ you can see Rock icon Joan Jett and the Blackhearts at the Surf Ballroom TONIGHT.  She’s the ultimate female rocker, possibly of all time.  I’ve seen a barrage of tickets that have come available on the Clear Lake Concert Tickets Facebook Group if anyone is still looking!

The fall weather makes me giddy with glee for the upcoming Harvest Festival on October 2nd.  Be sure to get signed up for the Champagne 5K before the main event in downtown Clear Lake.  There are VIP souvenir bags still available, as well as general admission.  They will be FILLED with awesomeness along with your tasting glass to sample all the delicious wines, ciders and beers that day.

It’s officially a wrap on another beautiful week here in paradise, my friends.  This very well may be the final weekend where the temps are warm enough to still partake in water activities and enjoy all the incredible amenities of our beautiful surroundings.

Get outside.  Enjoy it.

We’ll see you on the flip side!
