Happy Friday, my friends!  It’s hard to believe another week has come and gone at the Lake.  I’m not sure what happened these past few days, but they seem to have flown by in the blink of an eye.

Such is life, I guess.

It is officially the weekend we have been dreading since Memorial Day.  The end of summer.  It’s bittersweet because I love summer.  I love everything about it.  Still, I think I’m ready to embrace the shift.  Cooler temps, the changing leaves, college football on Saturdays… what’s not to love?

Still, my heart is just a bit heavy today as I grieve the loss of our lazy days at the beach.

Even the sky is crying, sad that our beautiful summer at the Lake must come to an end.  Yet, while the overall vibe seems totally gloomy, I must admit the silver lining behind all this is the epic events of the upcoming holiday weekend.

I mean, have you SEEN all the stuff going on?  Holy guacamole!  It’s a live music lovers dream come true!!  I wrote a little ditty about all the happenings associated with the Island Fever Showcase which you can check out here.  It includes the list of daily activities and is full of information pertaining to the who, what, when and where of all the things they have planned.

And it’s going to ‘trop’ rock your socks off, because the Parrot Heads have officially descended upon Clear Lake!  You’ll be able to recognize them easily as they travel in flocks and often wear bright clothing.

Oh, and they’ll be the ones having a blast wherever they go all weekend long.

If live music and island living is not your cup of tea, never fear, because you can spend all day on Sunday perusing the antiques in and around City Park.  The 28th Annual Antiques in the Square kicks off at 9am and will run through 4pm.  This event features more than 60 antique dealers selling primitives, pottery, glass, furniture, collectibles, and more! Admission is FREE and it will be held rain or shine.

As we observe Labor Day on Monday and many people get an extension on the weekend, Movement Solutions has something special planned.  They will be at the seawall from noon to 5pm with a fantastic treat for all past and present service members, first responders, and their families. They will have free use of kayaks, paddleboards, surrey bikes and electric scooters, as well as giving people free pontoon rides.  But the fun doesn’t stop there… they’ll also be grilling up hot dogs and burgers until they’re gone.  Be sure to get there early to get in on all the awesome fun!

So there you have it, folks.  I guess we’re sending summer out with a big old bang here at the Lake.  But never fear, just because summer is over doesn’t mean we don’t have a few tricks up our sleeve.  We’ll make sure there’s something fun for everyone in the fall, too.

Because that’s just how Clear Lake does it!
