Feel Good Friday

BY: RACHEL WUMKES

I never thought I’d admit this, but I’m happy to be back to the normalness of a work-week again.  I love the holidays, but that time where we all live in limbo between Christmas and New Year’s is a doozy.  Have I showered? When was the last time I ate an actual meal? Is it appropriate to sleep this late when I’m in my forties?

Love it… but seriously glad it’s over.

Being the first week of the month, as well as the year, it’s been a perfect time to give it our all and prepare for the year ahead.  I think we’ve all learned our lesson about what happens when we deem a year “ours” so there will be none of that here!

**fingers crossed**

**knock on wood**

This is my feeble attempt to keep the crazy voodoo at bay.

Needless to say, it’s been a great first week here at the Lake.

We all did a jig of glee with the announcement of the new hotel officially opening this weekend.  Like many others across the country, they ran into snafu’s with being able to get the good/products they needed.  The City of Clear Lake staff and elected officials were given a tour earlier in the week, and from what I’ve heard, it’s a beautiful facility ready to welcome travelers to Clear Lake with open arms!

The final touches were also put on preparations for the annual Visitor Guide Launch Party, which will be held Thursday, January 13th at Tap’d on Main Avenue.  The business after hours begins at 4:30pm where you can network with others, and the official cover unveiling will take place promptly at 5:30PM.

The party is open to the public and I highly recommend you attend.  It’ll get you all sorts of pumped up about Clear Lake and the upcoming year of events, activities, and FUN at the Lake.  Coincidentally, it might also be a good time for your business or organization to begin thinking about sponsorship opportunities.  I posted this handy-dandy blog on Tuesday filled with ideas and a link to our sponsorship brochure!

Alas, if you thought I could make it through a “Feel Good Friday” blog post without a comment on the crazy-awful-frigidly-cold weather this week… you are mistaken.  As an Iowan, particularly being in the North Central portion of the state, you’d think I would be used to this type of coldness.  But I am not, and I spent the majority of this week sitting by the fireplace, dreaming of warm summer nights and having fun during Thursdays on Main.

It’s my go-to happy place when I need to mentally escape the sub-zero temperatures in real life.

Lastly, inquiring minds are simply dying to know how y’all are doing with those New Year’s Resolutions?  Have we thrown in the towel yet? Or are you determined to see it through?

In cases you missed it, I wrote this informative blog on Wednesday which included local member gym information.  It’s not too late to jump on the bandwagon and get going on that resolution.

Thanks for kicking off 2022 with a fantastic week at the Lake.  We are excited to serve you through another year, and are thankful for the opportunity to do so in such a magnificent community!
