Prepare for one epic Iowa road trip!

BY: RACHEL WUMKES

Packing her bags and hitting the open road is one of Sara Broers’ favorite things to do.  In fact, she loves it so much, she turned the hobby into a full-fledged career.  When the buzz of blogging hit the mainstream, Sara jumped on board and launched TravelWithSara.com to share her travel knowledge with others.

Her blogs feature sections on how to create the perfect road trip, how to travel on a budget, and the best places to eat, stay and play.  Sara has traveled far and wide, throughout the Midwest and beyond, gathering information and sharing it with others.

Her newest undertaking, however, is something a bit different.

Something she’s always wanted to do.  And so, on May 31st, Sara will be at the Surf Ballroom & Museum in Clear Lake, Iowa to celebrate the release of her book, 100 Things to do in Iowa Before You Die.

Published by Reedy Press, this book is a coupling of 100 bucket list items one should experience in our great state.  In fact, think of it as a guide to your next road trip adventure.

“Travel With Sara has been in existence for 9 years,” Sara recalls.  “In 2020 I drove ever scenic byway in Iowa.  Having done that, it was the push I needed to write this book.”

Our very own Clear Lake is featured in EIGHT different sections.  In fact, the book starts off with a bang, suggesting travelers to “Enjoy a Meal at the Seawall” and features information regarding Starboard Market. In fact, a little birdy gave me the inside scoop that they’ll be providing yummy treats for the party!

Other mentions throughout the book include…well, you’ll have to get a copy for yourself to find out what they are! Sara will have books available at the kickoff party and would love to sign a message just for you!

Being an Iowan her entire life, Sara knew she had to tell this story.

You know, the one about the best kept secret in the Midwest.  The one where our rolling hills, scenic views, and epic sunsets over a growing corn field take center stage.  Where friendly people wave as they pass you on the street and life moves at a bit of a slower pace.  Where you can be become one with nature, and still experience the culture of faraway places without needing a passport.

Iowa is the heart of the Midwest, beating to a rhythm all its own.

Join us in celebrating with Sara on Tuesday, May 31st at 4:30pm.  Hey, you just might learn something new about this great state – and how to plan your next adventure to see it!
