… and then, the internet totally ruined it for me.  LOL.

So yesterday afternoon I was on my daily walk and it was hot.  Holy cow, was it hot.  I’m talking like the type of hot where it’s actually hard to pull in a full breath because you just feel heat all the way down your esophagus.

That hot.

Of course, I’m instantly annoyed with said heat.  I mean, it’s the middle of September for Pete’s sake.  It’s supposed to be cooling down by now.  I love summer more than anything… but I love summer IN THE SUMMER MONTHS.  In September I want it to be cool and crisp.

Moral of this story: I’m tired of the heat.

And then it hit me, like a heat wave crashing through my brain and washing away all the cobwebs:  I can do a blog post about it being an Indian Summer.  So off to Google I went all chipper and eager to think up some fun twist to put on my “Indian Summer” post.

But all my good intentions crashed and burned.

I learned that an Indian Summer is a period of unseasonably warm, dry weather that sometimes occurs in autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

Check! 

When weather conditions are sunny and clear with above normal temps, late September to mid-November is called an Indian Summer.

Um… kind of a check?  I mean… mid-September, late September.  It’s all the same, right?

Nope.

It is only considered an Indian Summer if the temps are above normal after the first killing frost.

Well… shoot.  There goes that idea.

But never fear, my fellow Clear Lake citizens.  Because if there’s one thing I can do, one thing I’m good at in life… it’s turning a negative into a positive.  SO – since it’s warm, and technically NOT an Indian Summer, but too warm in my opinion to call it fall… I deem our current situation….

… STILL SUMMER!

And that means you get a little extra time to get up, get out, and enjoy the nice weather!  Attend the “Strut your Mutt” walk on Saturday hosted by Patriots for Pets.  Check out the produce and handcrafted items at Farmers Market Saturday morning in the Surf Parking Lot.  Or on Sunday… participate in the Cemetery Walk with the high school American Heritage classes!

There are still LOTS of activities at the Lake.  And while it might not technically be an “Indian Summer” for us  **insert eye roll because really it is except for that one little frost part**  this weather is still awesome.
