It’s hard to believe that the 2nd annual TRI Clear Lake is almost here! It’s what you’ve been training for, what you’ve been working towards in your fitness goals and athletic make-up. And it’s happening THIS Saturday in beautiful Clear Lake, Iowa.
Clear Lake is a great place to race and while you’re here, we hope you get the chance to enjoy the many amenities that are available throughout the community. From places to stay, eat, shop, or play, you can surely find everything you need for race day and beyond! Also, there’s an incredible event happening this weekend called the “Take Me Back Reunion” with great bands performing. For more information on this event, check them out at www.takemeback.com
So what do you need to know before race day? Well, buckle up because there’s a lot of information coming your way!
Monday night is Open Water Swim from 6-7pm out at State Beach. It’s the perfect opportunity to get those swimming jitters calmed before the big event! But don’t worry if you miss out tonight… you’ll have another chance on Friday night from 6-7pm again for Open Water Swim practice!
Also on Friday is early packet pick-up from 4-8pm. And then, for those who are participating in their first Triathlon, or have any questions that need to be answered before Saturday morning, there is a TRI 101 Meeting from 6:30-7pm at State Park Beach. It’s a half-hour packed FULL of information.
On Saturday morning… the race begins at 8:00am sharp. However, there is lots to do before that happens. Transition will be open from 6-7:45am, with another swim practice available from 7:15-7:45.
WOW – see? There’s no need to be worried about that open water swim!! You’ll be just fine!
Packet Pick-up and Chip pick-up are also from 6am – 7:45. At 7:45, transition will close and there will be a short prerace meeting at promptly 7:50am.
Then, ya know, you just kick some awesome triathlete butt and do this race thing!! Be sure to give the volunteers a shout out along the way. TRI Clear Lake wouldn’t be possible without all of their help!
Post-race is a finish line party that will make all the sweat and tears totally worth it. Music, food, beer, post-race stretching available from Athletico… and all with our picturesque Lake as the backdrop.
Each athlete will receive a finisher medal at the finish line.
