Another year of summer fun has come and gone. It’s funny how you can look forward to something SO MUCH during those long winter months and then… poof… just like that, it’s over.
I’ve always said one of the coolest things this town does is Thursdays on Main. I run into people from all over and they ask, “You guys do that every single week?” And I just smile and say, “Yup, all summer long!”
But this event doesn’t just pop up each summer without copious amounts of planning, preparation, and LOTS of community involvement.
First up: OUR SPONSORS!!! Without them, Thursdays on Main wouldn’t be possible. They give so generously to ensure we put on a fabulous event each and every week.

We’d also like to say a special THANK YOU to a group of people who went above and beyond, providing extra help this year in so many different areas.
Farmers State Bank: For setting up the movie screen each week, and getting the barricades in place. It helped our crew out SO MUCH that you did this!
Taylor Barragy, from Larson’s Mercantile, who helped Trish with set up each week before the event.
Jennifer Pinske, from One Vision, who helped put away the cones and the road closed signs after every event. Also, a BIG thanks to her and her daughter for helping run the dunk tank during our Back to School Night!
And of course, Thursdays on Main wouldn’t be what it is without the many vendors, taking the time to set up each week. For Burns Financial, CL Tel, and Superior Lumber for providing hours of jumping fun for the kiddos in the bounce houses. And for the Iowa Trolley Park for the train rides.
It’s hard to say goodbye to summer, and especially to Thursdays on Main. It really is a testament to this town, and the people in it, that we can come together, to gather in the street for laughter, food, fellowship and fun.
But the main person we need to thank, the mastermind behind all the fun – is Trish Fundermann. In her notes of who needed to be included in this post she wrote: There’s no committee for Thursdays – just me. And I thought… wow. That’s a lot of planning and preparation and it all falls on the shoulders of one person!
So kudos to you, Trish, for another fabulous year of Thursdays on Main! We can’t wait for next summer!
