On Sunday night it happened… teachers around the area set an alarm for the next day. Time to get up, get moving, get back into the swing of a new school year. Their goal? Not only enhancing the cognitive abilities of our young people, but also guiding them, helping them along the journey of life to become good people. Decent humans.
Clear Lakers.
The Clear Lake Area Chamber and a slew of area businesses started the 2019-2020 school year off to an amazing start by loading them up with a heavy-duty catered breakfast from Hy-Vee. Their tummies were plum full of egg bake, cheesy hash browns, biscuits and gravy, delicious bacon, assorted fruits and muffins. And nothing tops off a delicious breakfast better than a steaming, hot cup of Cabin Coffee! They donated the caffeine jolt to get everyone going.
It was a breakfast fit for royalty, which is how we think of our education staff here in Clear Lake!
Each table was beautifully decorated by a local business. A gift set at every place setting for the teacher, administrator or staff member to enjoy. I have to admit, I was a bit jealous as I walked around and checked out some of these gifts. They were the most creative, imaginative and just all-around incredible gift baskets and goody bags I’d ever seen!
The Middle School cafeteria was packed as teachers gave hugs to friends and staff they hadn’t seen all summer. The energy in the room was a bustle of activity, their excitement palpable.
And then, after gorging on the delicious breakfast feast, they filtered into the E.B. Stillman Auditorium to begin their journey through the next school year.
Now, Clear Lake might not be known for producing any big name rock stars or famous celebrities, but every single one of these people working for our school district are just that, and we wish them the most amazing, incredible school year!
And the group of businesses who sponsored this event and created these amazing gifts? They’re like super heroes. They simply swooped in to save the day, helping us create this amazing event to kick off the school year. Their support of our community and our school district show why Clear Lake really is the best place around.
Not only did they step up to the plate, but they hit it out of the park!!
See what I mean? Please stop in to any of these businesses, or pop over to their Facebook page, and give them a great big THANKS for helping our teachers and staff start the school year on the right foot!
Here we go, Clear Lakers, another school year is upon us. May it be the best one yet!
