I’ve seen these posted on various Facebook pages… the several seasons in the Midwest.  It feels like our beautiful fall weather of frolicking in the pumpkin patches and enjoying the mild warmth of a sunny afternoon are over for us.

We’ve officially reached “Ope” season here at the Lake.

Not fall.  Not winter.  Not really anything until you get out of your car on Main Ave and go “Ope, should’ve grabbed a warmer coat!”

Still, regardless of the frigid temperatures and wind whipping across the lake, things are really heating up in the Clear Lake School District.

Tonight, the Clear Lake Lions Football Team will travel way over yonder to Northwest Iowa to take on Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in the 2nd Round of Iowa football playoffs.  We wish them the best of luck for a successful outcome, and safe travels as it’s a bit of a jaunt to get over there!

Tomorrow morning, our High School Boys Cross Country Team will compete in the 2A State Championship down in Ft. Dodge.  Along with them, Addison Doughan and Reese Brownlee will be competing individually for Clear Lake in the girls’ race.  We wish them ALL the best of luck and favorable weather for personal records and a great run!

In the music department, Clear Lake had an INCREDIBLE showing of students selected for All-State Choir and All-State Band.  This takes a HUGE amount of dedication and work to achieve this high honor.  Congrats to the following students for your hard work.  You make Clear Lake proud!!

Choir

Evelynn Hickman

Matt Moore

Madi Moore

Emily McLaughlin

Zeke Nelson

Jacob DiCamillo – 1st Alternate

Band

Kjersten Ouverson – horn

Mia Lockwood – tuba

See what I mean?  Clear Lake School District has some TALENT ON FIRE in so many areas!!

In community news, the announcement of the upcoming Winter Dance Party lineup was definitely a high point recently!  I mean, Don McLean is the guest on Thursday, February 3rd at the Surf Ballroom, along with a weekend filled with live music, dancing, and remembering our three fallen stars.  How awesome is that?

I better dig out my poodle skirt and cardigan.  After having to cancel the event last year, I think we’re all just itching to get out on that dance floor, am I right?

Tickets officially go on sale on Wednesday, November 10th at 8AM.  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to reminisce about an incredible piece in the rock ‘n roll history puzzle!

And so, as the cold weather thrashes through the streets of Clear Lake, chilling our bodies and forcing us to enjoy the indoor portion of the year, its evident that we still have SO many things to be excited about here at the Lake.

Until next week, my friends!
