Here we are on the cusp of another weekend at the Lake, my friends.  I don’t know why I ever get so moody on Mondays, considering Friday seems to arrive in a blink.  Week after week we’re just plugging away here at the Chamber of Commerce, ensuring our member businesses are thriving and the community is ready and open for visitors.

Our hearts are even MORE full recently with the addition of a new Chamber baby, August Weiss.  Our administrative assistant, Ashley, and her husband Ethan welcomed this little bundle of joy into their family on Sunday, April 10th.  We are over the moon excited for their family!!!

If you’ve noticed Clear Lake looking a bit cleaner and brighter lately, it’s because the Earth Day Trash Bash has been going on all week long!  SO many incredible businesses and organizations stepped up to ensure our community is in tip-top shape after the brutal winter wind.

But the fun doesn’t end there – this weekend there are LOTS of fun, family-friendly activities happening!!  On Saturday morning at 9am is the 5K/10K run starting at the seawall.  Racers will take their mark, get set, and GO around the park and then down South Shore Drive.

If you’re out and about, grabbing coffee and donuts in the morning – be careful of runners!

After the race, city park will become a mecca for smiles and laughter as kids can jump on bounce houses, play tug-of-war, check out a super-cool turtle presentation at 11am, and enjoy a sunflower potting activity in the Lakeview Room.

Here’s the full flier so you don’t miss a minute of the fun!!

In regional news, Travel Iowa unveiled their new marketing campaign called This is Iowa.  You can check it out at https://www.facebook.com/IowaTourism.  They are currently working on a drone “fly through” project to connect to the soul of Iowa.  Considered a “fly over” state by those who think we are a state filled with only corn and pigs, this is a chance to get into the incredible communities in the state of Iowa via drone footage showcasing all we have to offer!!

And so, as we wrap up the week, it was nice to have one day of sunshine and favorable weather, consider this spring seems to be a lot of dreary, cold, windy days.  Fingers crossed it stays nice enough to hold the Earth Day festivities this week.  Stay tuned to the Clear Lake Earth Day Facebook page for updates.

Have a fantastic weekend, Clear Lakers.

Until next time!
