What a week!

BY: RACHEL WUMKES

I don’t know how it happens, but our 4th of July celebration just gets better and better ever year.  The carnival rides, the games, hanging in the BINGO tent, the parade and the fireworks.  I can’t explain it.  It’s like magic. This Feel Good Friday has me feeling all the feels today.

On Thursday, I took a bit of a hiatus from reality and spent some time sitting in City Park.  It was a rather surreal feeling.  The carnival had packed up and gone like nothing even happened.  Life as we know it went back to business as usual.

The quiet beauty really made me pause for a moment and take it all in.

Bikers slowed down as they transferred from North Shore to South Shore.  They stopped at the seawall and took in the beauty for a moment.  Giggles floated from the playground equipment as smiling parents watched from a distance. People simply enjoying all the things to do at the Lake.

Business owners swept off the sidewalk at their front doors.  A bit frazzled and most likely exhausted, I couldn’t help but notice the happiness in their eyes.

It was a good week.  A great one, actually.  One for the record books.

Even with that darn mother nature derailing our original plan for fireworks!

Once my brain goes back to normal function again (and my body detoxes all the corn dogs) I’ll do a proper thank you.  Right now, I think we all feel like we’re treading water in the hopes to keep our head above the surface.

I know I am!

I do want to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out for all the amazing events this past week.  Your smiling faces are what makes this community, and this event, so spectacular.

There will be no time for relaxing, however, because summer fun is still full speed ahead at the Lake.

This weekend packs a punch of activity and excitment.  In case you missed the events email that went out Thursday, you can check out all the events on our community calendar.

Whew.  I’m exhausted just reading it!  But, if there’s one thing we do well at the Lake, it’s to have ALL the fun!

On Saturday, after a rousing session of Yoga by the Lake at 7am, you can head over to the Farmer’s Market and stock up on fresh produce and craft items.  Then, City Park will transform into a craft beer lovers dream with the 7th annual Brews on the Beach.

Brewers come from across the state to offer samples of their delicious barley & hop concoctions.  VIP tickets are sold out, but you can still snag General Admission tickets for this tasty event!  There will be food trucks on hand for your dining pleasure.  And don’t forget the official after party at Tap’d!

See what I mean?

Take a deep breath, my friends.  Try to get a few hours of shut-eye before we’re off to the races on all the Clear Lake fun.
