Sacred & Secular Activities!

It is simply mind-boggling to me that this weekend is Easter.
I mean… how did we get here? Wasn’t Christmas just yesterday?!?!
Maybe it’s the bitter cold wind still whipping through the region. Or the fact there is STILL a teeny-tiny little bit of ice on Clear Lake. Whatever the reason, it just doesn’t seem possible that we are approaching Easter already.
The holiday of Easter is commonly known by Christians as the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ after he died on the cross at Calvary. As with any Christian holiday, Easter had become increasingly commercialized over the years. Corporations and their advertisers are aware of the amount of importance placed on attaching a fictional character to such a holiday, which led to the birth of the Easter Bunny.
In early years, the Easter bunny looked much like a regular bunny… except for the fact it laid colored eggs. Over time, the character has morphed into the fluffy white (and overly large) Easter bunny we see today. Hopping along, this furry cottontail comes bearing bright-colored baskets filled with trinkets and toys for all the boys and girls to enjoy.
And he’s hopping his way right into Clear Lake!
In fact, you can see him on Saturday if you bring your youngsters to participate in the Easter egg hunt.
