Things might get a bit dangerous at the Island Fever Showcase in Clear Lake, Iowa.

Drop Dead Dangerous, actually.

As I was leafing through the Island Fever brochure to decide who the next feature would be on the blog, their name tweaked my interest.  However, it was when I did a little stalking on Facebook that caught me hook, line and sinker.  In the ‘about’ section of the band it says:  “Songwriters, musicians, Entertainers, Whiskey Drinkers.  Cheers Y’all!”

That’s when I decided they were my new best friends.

Seriously… I love them.

On Labor Day weekend, this amazing five-piece band will be gracing the iconic stage at the Surf Ballroom, but it’s the girls who really steal the show!

Melanie Howe & Kitty Steadman met while touring independently.  In 2015, they decided to join forces and create the southern rock, country band, Drop Dead Dangerous.  Their sound is a mix of old-school country twang but with a bit of an island vibe.  Steadman, with her powerhouse pipes, is arguably one of the best in the business on lead vocals.  Howe, who is commonly known as the “Djembabe” mixes in her harmonies to create a “sister-like” blend, as well as showcasing her effortless, phenomenal skills on drum set.

You can catch the band performing in night clubs, festivals, beach bars, and honky tonks; traveling thousands of miles with their “ready to party” attitude.  They’ve played in front of hordes of people all across the continental United States, and in the Caribbean islands.  Their single, Breathe, is simply amazing and truly inspirational for anyone going through tough times.

Another cool thing I found is that the band recorded their 2nd CD at the one and only Shrimpboat Sound Studio in Key West, Florida.  For those of you who haven’t heard of this… it’s the trop-rock work space of legends.  It’s Jimmy Buffet’s actual recording studio and has been used by the likes of Jimmy, Zac Brown Band, Kenny Chesney, and Toby Keith.

Look them up at www.wearedropdeaddangerous.com to get a little taste of their music.  I promise it’ll blow you away!

And if you still need to grab your tickets to the Island Fever Showcase, be sure to long on to www.surfballroom.com – the proceeds from this event are going BACK to the Surf for their music education program.

Because the show promoters are total awesomeness.
