You know that old saying, “It takes a village to raise a family?”  Well, it appears that saying also applies to the organization and execution of running a fantastic event in Clear Lake.

We all want the town to prosper.  To grow.  Our stores and restaurants want patrons inside their doors to shop and eat.  We want people to move here, to boost our economy which only improves the quality of life for everyone who lives here.

How does this happen?  Well… when Clear Lake puts on these incredible events and hordes of people flock to town, we need to make sure said event is the best thing they’ve ever seen.

And we do that… with volunteers.

Groan.

Yeah, I heard you.  It was the collective groan heard ‘round the town.  But hear me out on this one.

So TRI Clear Lake is looking for volunteers.  This event, you guys, it’s a big one.  It’s something that puts Clear Lake on the map for a whole different reason than all our other events.  Triathletes are a rare, dedicated group of individuals in a tightly knit community.

And they talk.  So when they talk about TRI Clear Lake, we want to make sure they’re saying LOTS of good stuff.  And the way to make sure they’re saying LOTS of good stuff is by running a smooth event filled with smiling, welcoming faces!

And swag… because everyone likes free stuff.  But that’s a whole different blog post… 🙂

So how can you help?  Well, there are a slew of different areas volunteers can sign up to support.  If you follow this link   http://signup.com/go/NtQTdKs it takes you to a handy-dandy little sign up page where can choose where you’d like to assist.

Last year, my kids and I volunteered on the bike course.  It was a couple hours (if even that) of hanging out at an intersection, helping to flag cars, and cheering on the bikers and they whizzed by at full speed.

My kiddos thought it was a hoot, but mostly, I hope they took away from the day that we did something good.  Something productive.  We put aside our personal agenda for a few hours on a beautiful Saturday morning and helped out our town.

Can you sense the desperation?  I’m pulling out the big guns here, people.

Please sign up.  Please take pride in our amazing community and help us show these athletes the awesomeness of our little lake town.  Get a group of friends together and make it a fun morning.  I promise, you won’t regret it!
