You did it, right?
I know I did.
The instant my boss mentioned today was the halfway mark for the year, my brain exploded into a rendition of Bon Jovi’s 1986 hit song, Livin’ on a Prayer.
While the song touts the hardships of a young couple, I do think the chorus is very fitting for the Chamber Organization…
Whoa, we’re half way there
Woah, livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand, we’ll make it I swear
Whoa, livin’ on a prayer
It got me thinking, really reflecting on the past 6 months as we’ve dug out of the 2020 slump. Our focus geared toward the safe return of our many signature events, being a resource for others and, mostly, a cheerleader for our many Chamber Members and local businesses who are doing just the same, pulling themselves up from the depths of 2020 and into the light.
And so, while it’s more so the tremendous hard work and dedication of the dedicated Chamber Team than it is livin’ on a prayer, there is a bit of art imitating life in this song. “Take my hand, we’ll make it I swear” goes (literally) hand in hand with “Together we Rise” which was the mantra last year as we muddled our way through the global pandemic.
The result is a banner first half of 2021, folks! A successful TRI Clear Lake event that people are still talking about, the return of Thursdays on Main, opening up the community for the tourist season, and most excitedly welcoming THIRTY-THREE new Chamber Members.

Seriously, is that an impressive list, or what?! We welcome each of the above members with open arms. The Chamber of Commerce is here for each of you in any way, championing your success throughout the community and being a resource for networking with other members and residents of Clear Lake.

And a great big “TOOT! TOOT!” of the horn to the Chamber Team for rocking the first half of the year. As we begin our descent down the backside, never fear, these ladies will not just glide down the hill to the end of the year. They’ll keep working hard to ensure the betterment of the Clear Lake business community to increase the economic impact for our entire region.
