Clear Lake is home to Iowa’s 9 Hole Golf Course of the Year, Veterans Memorial Golf Club! The public course is located at 2000 North Shore Drive.

On Friday, October 24th, 2015 the Iowa Golf Association Board of Directors named Veterans Memorial Golf Club in Clear Lake is the 2014 9-Hole Course of the Year.
In late 2010, All-Vets Golf Course looked to be in jeopardy of closing permanently. New ownership was being sought and it was the fear of many that the course would be converted to residential properties due to its lakefront location.
The City of Clear Lake recognized the importance of the facility as a recreational and tourist attraction and officially took ownership of the property in May of 2011. Soon after, the Veteran’s Memorial Golf Club Foundation was formed to oversee the operation of the course.
These developments were made with the purpose of returning the course to its former status as a premier 9-hole course in the region.
The members of Veterans Memorial Golf Club stepped up to support the club in many ways including volunteering many hours to improve the conditions of the buildings and grounds.
In addition, a beautiful new deck was built on the clubhouse and the bag shed and locker rooms were remodeled. In addition, bunkers were restored, trees removed and out-buildings painted.
The improvements have resulted in increases in membership and guest play as well as food and beverage sales.
