United Way Kicks Off Annual Campaign “Where there’s a you, there’s a way!”

Mason City, IA-  United Way of North Central Iowa will kick off its 2019 Annual Campaign on August 8, 2019 at the Mason City Chamber of Commerce Center at 3:30 p.m. The campaign kickoff will consist of  the announcement of the 2019 Campaign goal, a poverty simulation and the debut of the new localized campaign video. The Campaign slogan, “Where there’s a you, there’s a way”, recognizes that community members are the entity who are truly creating change in north Iowa through volunteering, donating and advocating.

The Campaign Kickoff marks the start of United Way’s annual fundraising effort and gives the organization an opportunity to thank local companies, donors and volunteers for their generosity and commitment to the community while celebrating the start of the fundraising season. United Way staff will be joined by United Way Board of Directors, fellow nonprofit agencies, volunteers and community members.

This year, United Way created a Campaign Cabinet consisting of community leaders who support the United Way mission. Emily Dunbar, Preparedness Coordinator Cerro Gordo County Public Health, has been appointed as the Campaign Chair and will lead the cabinet in raising funds and deepening community connections to further impact United Way and their partner agencies.

United Way funded 24 local programs for 2019 providing food, shelter, healthcare, victim services and educational initiatives. Yet, strained agency budgets led to funding requests which exceeded available United Way funds. Each year, United Way receives double the requests for funding then able to provide.

United Way’s annual campaign is a vital part of the organization’s work because every dollar given to United Way goes to support local programs in north Iowa. United Way believes a successful campaign should not be defined by reaching a monetary goal but rather the ability to meet every funding request that creates positive, measurable outcomes in the community.
