Merriam Webster defines the term ‘tooting one’s own horn’ as:
To talk about oneself or one’s achievements especially in a way that shows pride or too much pride.
Often times, it’s a bit frowned upon; being overly boastful and such.
But I don’t care.
That’s right! I said it!
Clear Lake has had some INCREDIBLE local achievements lately, so I’m going to toot my horn for this town as loud as I possibly can!
First up – Brad and Angie Barber, owners of Cabin Coffee, were named SBA Iowa Small Business Persons of the Year! An incredible accomplishment, given the number of small businesses in Iowa. In early May, the winners for each state will attend the ceremony in Washington, D.C. where they will be honored with their individual award. During the ceremonies, the Small Business Administration will announce the 2019 National Small Business Person of the Year from the 53 winners.
We wish them the best of luck and couldn’t be prouder of all they have accomplished thus far.
And if that wasn’t amazing enough… then this one happened.
Lake Time Brewery was named as the fastest growing brewery in the United States by the Brewers Association.
In. The. United. States.
Can you believe it? I mean, one day, Bob Rolling is brewing in the back room on the corner of 8th & Main, making just enough beer to sustain him through being open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
And then… ka-boom!
The business exploded and Lake Time Beer is available all over!
Now, I know it didn’t actually happen like that. Hours and hours of hard work and tweaking recipes played an integral part in the expansion. But still, it happened quickly; thus, earning him the top spot on this list.
Then, the travel blogging duo of ‘Wherever I May Roam’ visited Clear Lake from Florida and RAVED about two of our incredible restaurants.
K&B Emporium, as well as Bread & Buttercreme, received high marks and endless praise from Melody for their originality, incredible atmosphere, and DELICIOUS food and drinks. Congrats to them both for being such remarkable assets to this town!
Big things are happening in and around town, folks. BIG. THINGS. It makes me absolutely giddy that such astounding businesses are right here in our little tourist oasis. It’s not surprising the people who visit want to share the news with the World.
So yeah, just this one time, it’s not overbearing or arrogant to ‘toot your own horn.’ So here’s a great big ‘TOOT! TOOT!’ to Cabin Coffee, Lake Time Brewery, K&B Emporium and Bread & Buttercreme.
