Man, Monday’s are hard.  As I sat at my computer this morning, attempting to find interesting things to write about this week, my mind wandered.

To my to-do list.  To my menu plan.  To the weekly weather forecast.

Anything but writing topics.

I tried multiple cups of coffee but, alas, it didn’t help.

I am, however, super jacked on caffeine and contemplating mowing the lawn with my kitchen scissors.

It did get me thinking, though.  Why does everyone hate Mondays so much?  I mean, there’s the obvious reason of going back to work after a super-duper fun-filled weekend of lake activities.  But is that all?  I began to wonder if there was some sort of scientific reasoning behind the phenomenon of the Monday Blues.

20 Amusing Case Of The Mondays Memes To Help You Conquer Your Week ...

The results of my search were nothing out of the ordinary, yet I found it interesting that the list was riddled with sayings.  The first being “misery love company.”  It seems as most people dislike Monday’s, it tends to rub off on us as well.  No one wants to be that guy, bouncing into the office on Monday morning excited for the upcoming week.  No way.

That guy is weird!!

So, we alter our mood to fit in.  Letting them drag our emotions down into the gutter.

The next saying was “I’m just living for the weekend.”  I can totally relate to this one.  I mean, who doesn’t love the weekends?  They’re amazing!  Coupled with the fact that we live in the paradise of the heartland I’d say it’s perfectly normal to live for the weekend!

My problem is the vicious cycle of staying up late and sleeping later than normal.  Then on Sunday night I’m wide awake!  This week, however, I blame my lack of sleep on my new Netfix binge, The Umbrella Academy.  From the beginning it had me – hook, line, sinker.  There is no time for sleep when you HAVE to go to the next episode and find out what happens!

Thus, here I am, tired again on a Monday morning.  Thankfully, I have a week chocked-full of activities to look forward to.  On Wednesday, the Chamber and our incredibly generous sponsors will host the staff at Clear Lake Community Schools for the Appreciation Breakfast/Lunch.  Kicking off the year for them with a delicious meal and fun gifts!

Before we know it, Friday will arrive, and I’ll be writing the Feel Good Friday blog.  Probably starting it with the line “Can you believe another week has past at the Lake?”

It’s true.  I say it every week…

So, let’s make it a good one, Clear Lakers.  Enjoy these last few moments of summer before the whirlwind of school beings next week.  Take in all our beautiful town has to offer and remember… we live in paradise.

And there are no Monday’s in paradise.

See you at the Lake!
