You’ve heard me talk about it before. About the music, the laid-back attitudes, the tribe of island-loving performers that have their sights set on the Surf Ballroom.
But do you REALLY know what to expect Labor Day weekend when the Parrotheads invade Clear Lake?
You guys… they have so many things planned. So many activities, meals, live music events, and that doesn’t even include the THREE-DAYS of non-stop rocking out with incredible Trop Rock bands at the Surf Ballroom.
So what else is there, you might ask? Well, let me enlighten you!
The Friday pre-party is, in a nutshell, the party of all parties. The fun starts at 4pm at Lake Time Brewery with a special keg tapping. There, you can sit, relax, converse with old friends and new, and enjoy a specially brewed beer just for you.
The party then moves on to City Park, where Corned Beef & Curry Band will be rocking the band shell starting at 5:30pm. Bring a chair. Bring a cooler. And most importantly, bring your party pants, because it’s going to be an amazing time!
At 8:30, you can pack up and head on over to the Anchor Inn, where the Pirates & Poets Iowa Showcase will take the stage. This is a great chance to grab some food and relax to the sounds of island paradise.
At 9:00pm The JP’s (John Patti & Jimi Pappas) will be rocking the outdoor stage in the beer garden at Sunset Sharky’s. Their new setup is amazing and sure to be a hot-spot for a great show!
Drop Dead Dangerous will continue the night of Trop Rock fun at 9:30pm at Rookie’s Rockin’ Sports Bar. These ladies… oh man, you don’t want to miss your chance to see them up close! They are the epitome of awesomeness with their country twist on the island vibe.
Lastly, Thom Shepherd will be at the Other Place, located right on Hwy 18, starting at 9:30pm. It’s the perfect ending to an amazing night of music… and maybe grab a slice of ooey, gooey, cheesy delicious OP pizza for a late night snack.
And the best part of this entire night??? IT’S FREE!!
Yup, you read that right. All these events are completely free to the public. A great big, HUGE, shout out to our local businesses for participating in the kick-off to what’s going to be an amazing weekend in Clear Lake.
The town will be flooded with Parrot Heads, all gathered in one place to celebrate Trop Rock music. And you never know… maybe a certain Trop Rock Legend will make a surprise appearance?
