Liz is an accountant, office manager, jack of all trades, and co-owner of First Gabrielson Insurance Agency alongside her husband, Jay. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in dance. In 2000, Liz moved to Clear Lake, where she earned her CPA and worked in public accounting for several years before transitioning into the private sector. She is a long-time active board member of the Iowa State Dance Association, serves as Treasurer for Clear Lake’s 21st Century Club, and is a member of St. Patrick’s Church.
Deeply involved in the dance community, Liz is a competition teacher at Dancin’ With Roxie, where she teaches competition classes and private lessons. In 2001, she founded the Clear Lake Dance Team and coached for 23 years, leading teams to success at both the state and national levels. Over the course of her coaching career, more than 10 of her dancers have gone on to dance at the collegiate level, ranging from community colleges to Division I programs.
Liz is passionate about the life skills competitive dance teaches and the strong sense of community it builds. She especially enjoys being part of her dancers’ growth not only as performers, but as hardworking, kind, and confident individuals.
Liz and Jay have two adult children: Emily, a realtor and dance teacher in Ankeny, and Tyler, a student at Florida State University. Their family also includes their spoiled French Bulldog, Spike. In her free time, Liz enjoys traveling, spending time on the lake, cheering on Tennessee, Florida State, and Iowa State football and basketball, improving her golf game, participating in women’s bowling leagues at LPP, and attending concerts.
