Surf Ballroom & Museum

Immerse yourself in the rich history of Clear Lake by visiting the Surf Ballroom & Museum, Iowa’s 27th National Historic Landmark. Visit Three Stars Plaza, located one block west of the Surf’s main entrance, this circular park plays off the musical significance of Clear Lake and features an art deco inspired central spindle holding three 45 records in position “ready to play.” After visiting the Surf Ballroom, head to the crash site to complete the final piece of rock ‘n’ roll history with a trek to the Three Stars Memorial Site where the plane came to rest just 5 miles north of Clear Lake.

The Surf is open Monday-Friday 8am-4pm for self-guided tours.

Lake Theatre

Kung Fu Panda 4 (PG) After three death-defying adventures defeating world-class villains with his unmatched courage and mad martial arts skills, Po, the Dragon Warrior (Golden Globe nominee Jack Black), is called upon by destiny to … give it a rest already. More specifically, he’s tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. That poses a couple of obvious problems.

First, Po knows as much about spiritual leadership as he does about the paleo diet, and second, he needs to quickly find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position. Even worse, there’s been a recent sighting of a wicked, powerful sorceress, Chameleon (Oscar® winner Viola Davis), a tiny lizard who can shapeshift into any creature, large or small. And Chameleon has her greedy, beady little eyes on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which would give her the power to re-summon all the master villains whom Po has vanquished to the spirit realm. So, Po’s going to need some help. He finds it (kinda?) in the form of crafty, quick-witted thief Zhen (Golden Globe winner Awkwafina), a corsac fox who really gets under Po’s fur but whose skills will prove invaluable.

In their quest to protect the Valley of Peace from Chameleon’s reptilian claws, this comedic odd-couple duo will have to work together. In the process, Po will discover that heroes can be found in the most unexpected places.

Showtimes have been added for Spring Break! Monday, March 11 & Tuesday, March 12 at 7pm and Wednesday, March 13 at 1pm & 7pm plus the usual showtimes: Thursday & Friday 7pm, Saturday & Sunday 1pm, 4pm, & 7pm. Tickets are $5 adults, $4 children 12 and under. Click here to buy your tickets online!

Freedom Rock Park

Part of a 99-piece mural throughout the state of Iowa, Clear Lake’s 16 ton Freedom Rock pays tribute to Captain Henry Irving Smith, who was the only soldier from Cerro Gordo County to earn the Congressional Medal of Honor. The Civil War hero was awarded the high honor in 1865. Pick up a Freedom Rock map at the Visitor Center to explore them all!
