Hotel Debuts New Bar & American Tavern

Just a bit of a jaunt down the highway to the East of Clear Lake, you’ll find The Historic Park Inn Hotel. Located in the heart of Mason City, this 27-room boutique hotel is their most famous building as it is the only remaining Frank Lloyd Wright designed and built hotel. The building draws visitors from around the world and has earned a coveted position on the National Register of Historic Places.
Frank Lloyd Wright was an American architect, designer, writer and educator. He is responsible for creating some of the most revered buildings in modern interior design, including the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.
He originally designed the property as the City National Bank, law offices and a hotel. As time passed, the hotel portion fell into despair. It was brought back to life in 2011 by the nonprofit organization, Wright on the Park. They turned the entire estate into hotel and meeting space with a massive 20-million-dollar renovation.
Today, they are excited to announce some new happenings and packages at the esteemed destination. Travelers can experience the history, as well as enjoy discounts, perks, and amenities galore. You can check out the various options HERE.
Along with these exciting Historic Park Inn Hotel packages, a new bar, The Draftsman, and American tavern, Markley & Blythe, are open to the public.
The Draftsman is an ode to Frank Lloyd Wright. Located in the basement of the Historic Park Inn Hotel, it is a watering hole for locals with billiard games and pop-up live music. It’s the perfect place to unwind while you enjoy classic cocktails, local and domestic brews, a large wine selection, and a curated food menu.
You won’t want to miss $5 Burger Night on Wednesdays. Their Smashburger includes C.A.B. beef, American cheese, lettuce, bacon jam, and house made dill pickles on a sesame seed bun. It’s served with truffle fries – you can’t go wrong for only five bucks!
On August 1st, the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for Markley & Blythe at The Historic Park Inn Hotel. Previously the 1910 Grille, this new restaurant is a sophisticated American tavern driven by the seasonality of regional produce and the offerings of neighboring ranchers. The welcoming menu features a selection of snacks, starters, and entrees with both familiar and unexpected ingredients.
Home to an in-house charcuterie program, the menu complements the meat-forward offerings with handmade pastas and nostalgic entrees. They also offer half-off bottles of wine priced up to $100 on Tuesday nights from 5-9pm. You can also enjoy the same $5 Smashburger as The Draftsman on Wednesday nights!
The Historic Park Inn Hotel is a piece of American History, located right here in North Iowa. It’s a tribute to the incredible mind and talent of a man who is responsible for over a thousand buildings across the country. We are beyond lucky to have such an incredible, historic structure just down the road!
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the 4:30 PM ribbon cutting on August 1st, followed by a reception at Markley & Blythe.
