Let’s Pig Out!

BY: RACHEL WUMKES

Oh, how the people of the interwebs have really outdone themselves this time.  National Eat What You Want Day?  I don’t know who came up with it, but they deserve a medal.  A big one.  One they can wear with pride as they stuff their face with all the food today.

It got me thinking, though.

What if I had a whole day to eat anything I wanted?  Where calories don’t count, and money is no object!  A day to simply indulge in all the spectacular establishments at the lake?  What would I choose?

Obviously, the first thing I’d do is make a list.

You know me and my lists!

So, that’s exactly what I did.

I made the ultimate list of Rachel’s Choices for National Eat What You Want Day.

There are no restrictions on cost, calories, or even if the restaurants are open during my timeframe.  It’s whatever I want.  All day.

Breakfast:

I’d start my day at Seven Stars Family Restaurant.  Why?  Because they have some of the best darn breakfast options in town.  I would order up the Country Hashbrowns and let my fork fly!  Plus, at Seven Stars your coffee cup never gets below the halfway mark.  Their staff is the best at making sure you have a piping hot cup of joe for your entire meal!

Mid-Morning Snack:

Doesn’t seem like it’s needed, but this is National Eat What You Want day.  I make the rules, and I say we head over to PM Park on South Shore Drive for some fruit and a mimosa.  It’s the perfect place to soak up the beauty of Clear Lake and enjoy the nostalgia of your surroundings!

Lunch:

I’m heading straight downtown to Starboard Market.  From experience, I know you must get there early because the line seems to form in an instant once they open their doors!  I’ll be enjoying a PEARadise Melt, some Mexican Street Corn, and the half & half soup.  You can’t go wrong with anything on their gigantic menu board.

Afternoon Snack:

To break up the day a bit, I will head to Cancun by the Lake.  Overlooking our gorgeous City Park, I will enjoy some chips and queso dip whilst sipping on a delicious homemade margarita.  If I’m feeling frisky, I might add an order of guacamole, too!

Dinner:

With their mouth-watering steaks and incredible menu, I choose the Half Moon Inn for my evening meal.  I’ll get the filet with a salad and baked potato and savor every tender bite of delicious goodness.

After Dinner Drink:

My day wouldn’t be complete without an evening cocktail at The Landing on Clear Lake.  Double bonus that patrons get to witness the best sunset around as it dips into the horizon across the lake.

Dessert:

For the crème de la crème of the evening, a stop at Charlie’s Soda Fountain for a sweet treat is a must.  Have you heard they’re serving Dole Whip soon?  Hello, deliciousness overload!!

So, there you have it.  Rachel’s ultimate eating day.  Doesn’t it sound like fun?

The best part about Clear Lake is I could switch things up and have multiple days like this because there are SO MANY incredible eating establishments in town.  As we come into the busy season, let’s really give these business owners something to talk about.  Really make them remember the summer of 2023!  There’s never been a better time to support our local restaurants and bars than right now.

Bon appetite, my friends!
