Be Part of Music History at the Surf Ballroom
Sunday, October 19, 2025 | Free Admission (with RSVP)
Surf Ballroom & Museum, Clear Lake, Iowa
Music lovers, this is your chance to make history at one of America’s most iconic live music venues. On Sunday, October 19, internationally acclaimed YouTube artist Mike Massé brings his signature acoustic sound to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa for a free concert and music video shoot that you can be a part of.
For the very first time in Iowa, Mike will be joined by longtime friends and collaborators Jeff Hall and Sterling Cottam as they perform and film their new acoustic cover of Don McLean’s “American Pie.” And they’re inviting you to be part of it: live, in the audience, on the same stage where Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper gave their final performance before The Day the Music Died.
A Historic Performance on a Legendary Stage
Few places capture the spirit of rock ’n’ roll quite like the Surf Ballroom. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark, this legendary venue continues to honor the legacy of the artists who made it famous while welcoming new generations of musicians and fans to experience that same magic.
Now, Mike Massé’s “American Pie” video shoot will add a new chapter to that legacy. The event combines the one of rock’s most iconic songs with the timeless acoustics of the Surf’s historic stage, creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience for both the performers and the audience.
