Local Purchase Power
By: Rachel Wumkes
March 17, 2020 This is nothing few, folks. We’ve all seen the hashtags and billboards over the years to #shoplocal and support small businesses in our community.
But we are in different times now. It’s a different world than it was just a few short months ago. Back when we were all making plans and living life oblivious to everything around us.
People have a heightened sense of awareness now, and with that, comes the realization that if we don’t support our local businesses in these tough times, they aren’t going to survive.
So how can you help? It’s easy… support them ANY way you possibly can!
Like, share and comment on their social media posts. Maybe you’re not currently in the mood to order donuts, but someone you know might be! If you see a deal, share it with the world!
Right now, you might be a bit concerned about going to a crowded restaurant. No problem! Many have curbside pickup to go. Or you can order a gift card to use when all this craziness blows over! Just think of the awesome fun you can have this summer using up all your gift cards you stockpiled during the quarantine!
***EDITED TO ADD***
Approximately 15 minutes ago, as I was in the thick of getting this article put together, Governor Reynolds ordered “the closure of all bars & restaurants to the general public. Food and beverages may be sold if they are promptly taken from the premises, such as in a carry-out or drive-through basis, or if the food or beverage is delivered to customers off the premises.”
Now, more than ever, we need to band together and keep these businesses afloat. Plus, I don’t know about y’all, but there’s no way I can cook 3 meals a day over and over and over and over. It’s just not going to happen. Shop Local. Buy Local. Support Local.
