There is no better way than to kick off a Feel-Good Friday blog post than the fact it’s the first snow day of the season.

In the past, snow days have been filled with puzzles and games.  With sleeping in and video game marathons.  Of movies in the basement and junk food galore!

To be honest, after the debacle of no school for weeks on end last year, I didn’t think I’d ever truly enjoy a snow day again.  For the first portion of the school year, just the thought of having all the kids home with me all day again gave me anxiety.

Will they go back?

Will I have to home school?

And do not even GET me started on the idea of supplying those little food-mongers lunch again.

Despite the build-up of anxiety that formed, I am pleased to note there was actually a small level of excitement yesterday when the call came in.  Plus, the school was on their toes, thinking ahead and making life easier for everyone involved, because they sent home lunch with the kids.

HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!?!?!

And so, today, as you dig out of your humble abode, clearing away the mounds of snow, I hope you also get to enjoy the beauty of our beautiful lake on this cold, snow-covered day.  There is something to be said about the still of a winter morning, especially when you live in paradise.

Yes, we may share our town with hundreds upon hundreds of tourists during the rest of the year, but during the winter, Clear Lake is ours.

Ours to relish in the beauty.

Ours to enjoy the serene stillness as the sun sets behind our frozen oasis.

Ours.

Enjoy your snow day, Clear Lakers.  Continue to order take-out and shop local whenever possible.  The livelihood of our community depends on it!
