Discover the Heart of Clear Lake Through the Lake Leadership Program

Since 2014, the Lake Leadership Program has connected community-minded individuals with the people, places, and institutions that make Clear Lake, Iowa thrive. Each year, a select group of participants, explores the community through immersive, behind-the-scenes sessions, learning how our city and region work together to build a vibrant place to live, work, and play.

Designed to educate and empower civic-minded professionals, Lake Leadership uses the community as a classroom. Participants meet local leaders, tour area businesses, and gain firsthand insight into economic development, education, health care, government, agriculture, and tourism across North Iowa.

Many graduates have grown as leaders in their workplaces and community, stepping into management roles and entrepreneurial ventures. Others have gone on to serve their community directly, joining nonprofit boards, city commissions, and government-appointed positions such as Planning & Zoning and Board of Adjustment.

In 2025, the Chamber launched the Lake Leadership Alumni Association, helping graduates stay connected, continue learning, and keep contributing to the community they’ve come to know so well.
