With pages of scribbled notes about many upcoming, fun events in Clear Lake, I decided to go a different route this morning.  There’s something about the Winter weather that makes me long for Spring.  The sloppy, wet piles of snow.  The gray skies and frigid cold. Seriously… I’m so over it!

Seasons are a funny thing, really.  By the end of one I’ve usually grown tired of the elements and looking forward to a change.  Even for as much as I love the summer, by August I’ve hit my limit of bug bites and sweat and am ready for the cool temps so I can dig out my jeans and sweatshirts.

The good thing about living in the awesomeness that is Clear Lake, is the abundance of activities all year round.  You’d think February would be one of the calmer months for us.  A time to maybe take a vacation or just rest our souls from the normal hustle and bustle of life.  Instead, Clear Lake packed in a full punch of fun!

We’ve had huge successes this year with attendance for the Winter Dance Party, the Yellow Bass Bonanza, the Midwest Sled Fest (formerly the Jack Race) and Color the Wind.  People came out in droves for these events, braving the elements from Old Man Winter.  Which, to be honest, he’s been pretty easy on us this year.

Was it just last year we had something like nine snow days?  I can’t remember for sure; I’ve tried to block it from my memory permanently!

Regardless… we’ve almost made it through February already.  Before long, the snow will melt away, the trees will begin to bloom, and the frozen oasis will once again turn into our beautiful Lake!  If we can just hold on a bit longer, it’ll be time for the many fun Earth Day festivities, an event signifying spring is officially here.  Be sure to mark your calendars for this enjoyable, community event!

And then we’ll blink again, and it’ll be time for Thursdays on Main.  A staple of summer fun in Clear Lake, Trish has been working diligently to book bands and special entertainment, securing vendors and making sure we’ve got food trucks galore for you to choose from!

Be sure to give us a ‘like’ on Facebook to stay up to date on all the activities!

While you’re digging out this morning, just think of all the exciting activities coming up on the horizon.  One thing is for sure… in Clear Lake, there’s something fun for everyone!

See ya at the Lake!
