How are you coping with the global pandemic?  Are you going stir crazy inside your house? Talking to the inanimate objects?  That’s okay… it’s when they start to talk back you might have an issue.

Many people are cleaning cupboards and organizing random drawers they’ve been neglecting for ages.  Binge-watching Netflix originals or getting caught up on that one series you’ve never watched on television.  Spending copious amounts of quality time with your family as your house seems to become smaller and smaller each day.

Here, at the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, we’re trying to keep things on the lighter side.  Yes, we understand the ramifications this global pandemic is having on our community, especially small business owners.  Still, we are doing what we can to ensure the mood stays upbeat and positive.

This is just a typical Monday morning meeting, held via Zoom.  Instead of the boring background of our home offices or makeshift workstations inside our garages, we got a little frisky, adding in our favorite Clear Lake photo.

Stacy is dreaming of the 4th of July.  Of working the Bingo tent and riding all the carnival rides.  Libbey looks like her mom forced her into JC Penney for a picture.  Rachel looks exhausted, probably dreaming of fun days on the lake after dropping her kids at Grandma’s.  And Christina is the happiest of us all, just soaking in the sun on beautiful Clear Lake.

Then there’s Trish.  She’s been working at the Chamber for so long, all her electronic devices are from the stone ages and thus, unable to change to a super cool background like the rest of us.

Every party has a pooper, right?

Just kidding.  She can’t download a zoom background, but she sure can organize a Clear Lake event like no other!

In all seriousness, we are doing everything we can to provide the community with resources no matter the need.  Whether you’re a small shop looking for grant money from the state, or a just a hungry resident, wondering what’s open and when.

We’ve got you covered, and will be by your side through this whole ordeal.

And someday, when we get the green light to “open up the gates” again, I guarantee this town will be hopping for days.  Weeks even.  Heck, the whole next year!  There will be grill outs and boating and fun events uptown again.  And we will all appreciate them just a bit more than we used to.  We’ll stop for a minute and take it all in, because we’ll remember this time when it was all taken away.

We’ll get by with a little help from our friends.

Just like your Chamber Team.  Working together for the greater good of the community.

Today and always!
