Is this it?  Is it finally happening?  I mean, my weather app says so, but a tiny part of me is having trouble trusting it.

Could summer finally be here?

As I checked the forecast at the beginning of this week, that old Conway Twitty song began to float through my head.  Not even kidding, I’ve been humming it for two days now.

Hello Darlin’

Nice to see you

It’s been a long time

You’re just as lovely

As you used to be

This is how I feel about the sun.  And the warmth.  And just summer in general.  I’m not sure where we went wrong this year.  I think someone did one too many rain dances and Mother Nature got flustered, not only sending us buckets of rain, but cold weather to go along with it.

That’s no fun.

People need summer.  People need the sun and warmth.

Okay, it’s me.  I’m ‘people.’

This pool rat/lake rat/beach bum needs it to survive!

I need to go to the Aquatic Center and soak in the hot sun while my kids enjoy an afternoon of water-time fun.  I need to go to City Beach, lay my blanket onto the burning sand and enjoy a cold beverage in the middle of the day.  My kids love to run through the Splash Pad, build sandcastles and frolic in our amazing lake.  Every now and then, we’ll pack a cooler full of food and drinks and head over to State Beach.  Seriously, if Clear Lake did a “Best Beaches of 2019” I think it might win.  I just love that place!  It’s a huge area to swim and the water is always perfect.

Recently, I’ve gotten into this fitness stuff a bit (only so I can fit into my wedding dress in a few weeks!) so a cruise in a kayak or on my paddleboard is just the ticket not only for a great workout, but to enjoy our majestic lake, especially early morning or late evening.  You guys… take in a sunset while surrounded by open water and it will change your life.

Not kidding.

You’ll see things differently; clearer.  Like a fog lifted from your tired, overworked, over-scheduled brain.

Trust me on this one!

So yeah, if the forecast holds up like they say and we get some hot temps finally…  I may need to change the words to that old song!

See ya at the Lake!  It’s gonna be a hot one.
