Some things are better late than never, right? Isn’t there an old saying like that somewhere?
The crew at the Clear Lake Area Chamber have finally gotten a moment to catch their breath after the whirlwind activities of the 4th of July, BBBQ festival and then the re-start of Thursdays on Main. Now, they know better than to get too comfortable, because obviously this is Clear Lake, and we don’t rest for long before it’s time to get moving on the next event.
But in that time, that few days (or maybe just hours) that Trish was able to sit down and take a moment to put together a cohesive thought, she came up with this ‘list of thanks’ for everyone who helped with the 2nd annual TRI Clear Lake event. The event, sponsored in part by the Iowa Economic Authority and the North Iowa Sports Authority was a great kick-off to summer in early June.
See? It’s not like we’re THAT far behind. Six weeks later is nothing when you live on “Lake Time” right?
So here it goes!
First up is the team of Race Directors-
Carrie Tysdahl, American Solutions for Business
Jake Kopriva, Lake Time Boat Club
And even though in the list she gave me it says (you don’t need to include me) a great big THANKS goes to Trish Fundermann at the Clear Lake Chamber. These three put in tireless hours of planning and preparation to make sure the event went off spectacularly.
And all the fabulous Committee Members-
Bike Lead: Brian Hanft, Cerro Gordo Dept. of Public Health
Swim Lead: Steven Story, City of Clear Lake Parks & Rec
Transition Lead: Jody East, NIACC
Run Lead: Mike Yore, Sodexo USA

Also to the over 100 community volunteers who helped out as course marshals for the bike and run routes by keeping our athletes safe, and to the finish line volunteers and registration volunteers for keeping everyone calm and organized.
For all the athletes and their families who trained so diligently and worked so hard to participate.
And also, for the spectators who lined the streets of the route, cheering on the athletes.
It takes a village (obviously by the gigantic list above) and we wouldn’t be able to do these amazing things in town, to bring all these people to Clear Lake and show them what an amazing place we get to call home, without your help. We wouldn’t be able to do any of it without these people, these businesses, who give so freely to make sure TRI Clear Lake is a success.
There’s plenty of time to start training for next year’s event – which, incidentally, is scheduled for June 8, 2019!! – will we see you on the course?!
You can do it… you just need to give it a TRI.
