Another fabulous week at the Lake!
BY: RACHEL WUMKES
What a week, right?
We started out by enjoying the tail-end of summer hanging on for dear life. Poor thing just didn’t want to let go, and I don’t blame her. I mean, we sure do know how to do summer at the Lake! But alas, she did finally release us from her dreadful heat and humidity, and we slid nicely into the crisp coolness of fall.
I’ve come to the realization that I’m a total “seasons” girl. I need them. The constant changing temperatures and atmosphere is a delight, really. About the time I’m done being hot and sweaty – BOOM – the weather changes. When I’m done with the freezing rain and snow – BOOM – the beauty of spring arrives.
In case you missed it this week, here’s my awesome-possum blog post about all the fall fun happening at the Lake. There is some AMAZING stuff going on this harvest season, so be sure to check it out!
To cap off an amazing season of splishing and splashing, we received word from Water Superintendent, Adam Theiss, that the final day to utilize the splash pad will be this Sunday, September 25th. Theiss stated, “We have liked keeping it open later than Labor Day weather permitting and have gotten good use out of it. We will continue to do that each year weather permitting.”
For all those artsy types out there, this weekend provides a chance to enhance your senses and enjoy a variety of work around North Iowa.
The North Iowa Studio Tour begin Friday and runs through Sunday. Each artist is featured on their Facebook Page. The scheduled times are:
9/23 – 4pm – 7pm
9/24 – 10am – 5pm
9/25 – 1pm – 4pm
It’s an excited and rather interesting way to get an up close and personal look into the artist’s studio as well as see their latest works. You might not realize this… but there are some TALENTED people living in North Iowa!
Here is the map and list of studios, which can also be found on their Facebook page.
As always, it’s been a pleasure this week, Clear Lakers. I hope you take a moment to enjoy these days of fall. Continue to fill your tank with all the things you love to help you slide through the upcoming winter season.
Before long, it will be time to begin marking off those holiday lists and shopping local for all your loved ones!
