Growth Paradox: A Collection of Drawings and Sculptures by Katie Walberg
This exhibition features a diverse collection of drawings and sculptures by Katie Walberg – Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the artists and learn more about their creative processes using mediums of paper and wood. The Growth Paradox exhibit will be on display until October 25th.

Cards & Creativity meets every Thursday that the library is open at 1:00 p.m. This is a weekly opportunity to meet up with others to play games or engage in your creative outlet of choice. Casual Chess Club
The 1st session of Chess Club will run October 3 – November 21 (not October 31) on Thursdays from 3:30 5:00 p.m. Players of all ages & abilities are invited to join us during this time. The first 30 minutes will include instruction and snack, followed with lots of free play games. Children ages 8+ wishing to ride the bus from Clear Creek must register for the program, but teens and adults are welcome to join us on a drop-in basis. If you only want to play (no instruction), feel free to join us from 4-5 p.m. for some pick-up games. Please direct all questions to Brianna at librarykids@cltel.net.

Harvest Meal & Fundraiser for Flood Relief
Galilean Lutheran Church is hosting a Harvest Meal on Thursday, October 24th from 4:30 to 7:00 PM. The meal will feature creamed chicken over biscuits, green beans with slivered almonds and bacon, coleslaw, homemade pies and beverages. It is open to the public and entrance is a freewill offering. A portion of the proceeds will go to Hurricane Helene Flood Relief. Carry out meals will be available, please call ahead to the church at 641-357-2296. Besides delicious food prepared by church members, there will also be a silent auction featuring a lap quilt, a beautiful 56 x 65-inch ragtime quilt, and several gift baskets featuring homemade products.

The Fashion Show at Affordables 2024
Join us on Thursday, October 24, 2024, for “The Fashion Show” at Affordables Thrift Store, 315 N Delaware, Mason City. This event will feature clothing from Affordables and Moorman Clothiers, modeled by 43 North Iowa clients, staff, and community members.
Doors open at 5:30 PM, with the show from 6-7:00 PM. Tickets are $15 per person, available at Affordables or Marketplace, or $20 at the door. Online tickets can be purchased until noon on October 24. Registers will remain open until 7:30 PM. Come enjoy a night of fashion and community.

Author Visit: Dave Ellingson
Join Dave Ellingson as he does a reading from his poetry collection, Noticing. In our busy lives we often miss the beauty along our path. We don’t “notice” the luminous landscapes and the people around us who bring us joy or who are experiencing loss. These poems are the products of paying attention and slowing down to experience life more deeply. Dave Ellingson is an adventurer, author, film maker, podcaster and speaker known as the “Paddle Pilgrim.” He is a kayaker, Lutheran pastor, former college professor, Master Gardener, and former distance runner and triathlete. He is married, the father of five grown children and five grandchildren, and resides in Edmonds, Wash.

Come out to Plain Ol’ Pumpkins for some old-fashioned fun every weekend this October! Get lost in the corn maze, take a hay rack ride, dive into the corn pool, or race around the pedal kart track.
