I have to say, I was a little disappointed with my options to celebrate “National Days” this week.  I mean… National Sneak some Zucchini onto your Neighbor’s Porch Day??  Really? How is that a thing?

For real… August 8th.

I could kinda, sorta get on board with August 10th, which is “Lazy Day.”  But then I remembered I have five kids and we are still all home for the summer.  So I will likely NOT be celebrating that day.

But smack dab in the middle of the zucchini and the lazy folks is a day I can totally celebrate.  A day that resonates with me, personally, and me, professionally.

I’m channeling my inner selfishness here… it’s all about ME.  LOL.

It’s National Book Lover’s Day!!!!  Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!

There’s nothing better… and I mean NOTHING… than immersing yourself into a good book.

I should know – I’ve written and published five of my own!

Oh… you didn’t know that??  Well then, you should most definitely make a pit-stop up to Main Street Clear Lake for Thursdays on Main.  I’ll be there with my son, Kamden, who is the co-author of our fabulous children’s books, Calvin the Grumpy Clam and Teddy the Careless Turtle.  I’ll also have copies of Unwanted Love, my super-fun and sassy stand-alone romance.  Unfortunately, the other two books are getting a makeover so have been pulled from production until they’re ready!

Another reason why this Mama is ready for the kids to go back to school!

But enough about me – another way to celebrate National Book Lover’s Day is to visit the wonderful Clear Lake Library.  Especially if you have little kiddos, you seriously NEED to utilize this amazing resource right here in our town.  They bring in speakers, host incredible events, have story time, run an amazing summer reading program, and even have after-school programs.

Honestly, I thought I’d be able to just write a running list of all their activities from their calendar, but there is SO MUCH!  To find out what’s coming up in the world of books and writing, visit www.cllibrary.org and click on ‘calendar.’

I tip my hat to you, Clear Lake Library!  Keep doing a fabulous job of promoting books, and writing to all the people of Clear Lake, young and old.  You are a mecca of beauty and wonder in the eyes of someone like me who loves everything about books and the book world.

And go forth, good citizens of Clear Lake.  VISIT the Library.  SUPPORT the Library.

Read all the books!

Because, you know, all the cool kids are reading these days!
