Feeling Extra Good with an Extra Long Weekend!

BY: RACHEL WUMKES

It’s almost as if there’s a bit of magic in the air knowing a three-day weekend lies ahead.  A spark of excitement and wonder as people make plans for the last big hurrah of summer before we plummet deep into the season of all things pumpkin spice and college football.

In Clear Lake, there is no shortage of fun activities happening over the holiday weekend.  Like a kid when you tell them “You have 5 more minutes to play!” we are packing in all the fun this weekend at the Lake.

Tap’d has three impressive nights of live music planned.  The fun kicks off with Jake Schrodt on Friday night.  Saturday brings all your favorite country and rock hits from North Iowa native, Jesse Calvert.  And there’s a bonus night on Sunday when Jesse Wilson takes the stage!

Sunday begins the countdown of lasts as it is your last chance to enjoy the Picnics & Performances event at 5pm out at Central Gardens.  It’s also the final Worship in the Park on Sunday morning.

The annual Antiques in the Square will be held on Sunday from 9am to 4:30pm in City Park.  Rain or shine, you’ll find more than SIXTY antique dealers selling primitives, pottery, glass furniture, collectibles and more.  Antique lovers and bargain hunters can peruse these incredible vendors at no charge as they hunt for treasures.

The first ever Last Call of Summer Parking Lot Party is planned for Sunday starting at 4pm in the Surf Ballroom Parking lot.  The Legacy Grill will have food and drink specials, as well as live music starting at 5pm.  Thinking of getting a boat to enjoy next summer?  Clear Lake Boats will be on site with inventory.  If you’re in the market for a new vehicle, Pritchard’s will have options available to check out as well.

It’s going to be the ultimate blow-out as we say goodbye to summer!

The fun doesn’t stop on Sunday, however, as Movement Solutions will host their 2nd annual “All Services Day” event on Monday from 12-4pm  They will be grilling hot dogs and burgers at the sea wall for all past and current service members and their families (while supplies last).  This FREE event will also offer pontoon rides and Surrey bikes at no charge for a fun day that is well deserved!

While many of us are feeling a bit blue upon the close of another summer season, we are thankful for all the memories and good times enjoyed at the Lake.

But, alas, all good things must come to an end.

At least for now.

I hope you filled your tank with all the fun and sun and warmth you could to get you through the upcoming winter months.  If you didn’t, I suggest you spend your weekend doing all the fun things!

Stop out to PM Park and the Tiki Bar before they close for the season.  Enjoy a bike ride around the lake or a stroll along the seawall. Sit on a patio and enjoy a meal or drinks with friends.  Take in one last summer sunset over the water.

Soak it all in, my friends, and have a magnificent holiday weekend at the Lake!
