So much goodness happening at the Lake!

BY: RACHEL WUMKES

My friends, there are just SO many items on our “feel good” list for this week, I’m bursting at the seams.  First item of business, do we not all feel like new humans waking up to sunshine?!?!

I know I do.

It’s simply a bonus that today happens to be April Fools Day.  It was the most joyous occasion pranking my children this morning, telling them the Lego factory was closing forever and we had to box up all the Legos in the house to send back to be burned.

Deep down, it’s my wildest dream.

But alas, not true.  Still, it was good for a laugh.

While people enjoy pranking each other today, I am feverishly anticipating the return of Starboard Market for the season.  I even skipped breakfast so I can fill my belly with all the delicious Half-and-Half soup and Mexican Street corn I can fit in there!

As we begin a new month, one I personally enjoy as it typically ends with warmer weather, I can’t help but be excited for the upcoming summer months.  Especially when I was casually scrolling through Facebook and stumbled up a new and improved Thursdays on Main logo!  Trish and Jenny have been working diligently to get their ducks in a row, so our many residents and guests can have the best experience possible!  Check it out at https://clearlakeiowa.com/events/thursdays-on-main/ as almost all the special entertainment is booked for the season.

Libbey has been busy as a bee getting set up to celebrate the return of in-person meetings.  Next Thursday, the tourism industry will come together for Global Meeting Industry Day – an International Day of Advocacy showcasing the undeniable value that business meetings, trade shows, incentive travel, exhibitions, conferences and conventions bring to people, businesses and communities.  The public is invited to tour several Clear Lake meeting venues to explore our diverse convention spaces, meeting-focused hotels, world-famous attractions, and irresistible breakout sessions.

Next week, the Clear Lake Arts Center will open the 2022 Clear Lake Earth Day Show!  Members of the community submitted photos of Clear Lake and the surrounding region to celebrate the beauty of the Earth, and 15 selected works will be on display in the Clear Lake Arts Center’s Stanton Gallery.

The show will open April 5th and close on April 29th.

Today also marks the start of a NEW library in town – a SEED LIBRARY!!!  Patrons to the Clear Lake Library will find a Community Seed Library near the upstairs circulation desk.  Thanks to the many donations that have already been dropped off, as well as the Lime Creek Nature Center and Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company, you will find vegetable, herb, flower, and native grass seed for the community.

What a fun, unique idea to get us ready for SPRING!?

In case you missed the events email for this week, be sure to check out the community calendar so that you are aware of all the upcoming events and activities happening in and around the Lake!

April is shaping up to be a great month as we welcome the warmer weather and plan for the upcoming return of our many seasonal establishments to accommodate our summer visitors!

Remember, April is National Volunteer Month, as we are always looking to procure volunteers to help our fabulous events run smoothly.  If you have a heart for helping, check out this week’s blog post as we are actively searching for volunteers for Earth Day and TRI Clear Lake!

Whew! Now that’s what I call a Feel Good Friday, am I right?  Have a fabulous weekend at the Lake, my friends!
