First thing this morning, I wasn’t sure how I felt about having to write this blog post.  After a week of cold weather, freezing rain, and snow flurries, I just wasn’t feeling it.  Of course, it didn’t help waking up to gray skies and the bitter whip of 55mph wind gusts.

Ugh.

However, after copious amounts of delicious coffee, and the arrival of the beautiful sunshine, I’ve changed my tune.  And even though it’s still cold and I’m desperately ready for warm weather, the silver lining in it all is that IT’S FRIDAY!!

Wahoo!

Tonight, county music fans from across the region will flock to the Surf Ballroom & Museum for a sold-out performance by Ashley McBryde.  She’s been touted as a “singer/songwriter with a touch of rock ‘n’ roll swagger, a honkey tonk heart, and a lyrical voice that puts a modern-day spin on classic country themes.”

Yee-haw!

In other important news – today is the FINAL day to be guaranteed a long-sleeved t-shirt in your size by registering for the Earth Day 5K/10K run.  All you need to do is go to https://earthdayclearlake.org/events/10k-5k-run/ and click the great big green box that says, “Register for the 5K/10K now!”

Easy-peasy!!

In National news, U.S. Sailing named Clear Lake Yacht Club’s 2021 MC National Championships the regatta of the year!

This. Is. Huge!!

Congrats to the Clear Lake Yacht Club for all their hard work and dedication to make this such a successful event.  We are so proud of this incredible accomplishment and look forward to future events.  If you’d like to watch the video on our Facebook page, you can do so HERE.

Speaking of the Lake… we have reached the ever-popular time in Clear Lake of ICE OUT!  Water Superintendent Adam Theiss made the official announcement this afternoon (3/25/2022).

With these high winds today, I definitely put my money on today being the magic date!

Not only is there cash money riding on the official date, but it’s the unofficial beginning of all things fun at the Lake.  Slowly, but surely, the water temperature will continue to rise.  Little by little, the grass will turn green, the sun will gain power, and the wonderfulness of a sensational summer at the Lake will be here!

Eeeeck!

And then, oh boy, the summer fun ramps up in full force.  Thursdays on Main will be back.  Live music here, there, and everywhere.  Patios will open for the season.  Golf balls will begin to fly.  Our friends from around the Midwest will make their way back to their summer cottages.

Are you ready, Clear Lake?  Do you think you can handle all the fun?
