What a week it’s been.

I know we’ve had some crazy weather anomalies over the years, but this week really took the top prize for weirdness.  In the course of seven days we experienced ice, snow, intense wind, and a freakish December thunder storm with tornadoes.

I’m a little nervous to think what might be next.

Will fire fall from the sky? Will we be plagued with locusts?

At this point, I’m not sure anything would shock me.

On the bright side, and a much-needed boost to my personal morale this week, was watching the Quarterly Coffee program held at the Best Western this morning.  Unfortunately, due to a nasty virus sweeping through my house this week, I felt it best to not attend in person and spread my germs to others.

You. Are. Welcome.

Thankfully, with the event being streamed LIVE on the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page, I could watch from the comfort of my office!

And you know what? It was just what the doctor ordered.

I can’t stress how amazingly lucky we are to live in this community.  Seriously, I know it’s a bit like beating the same drum over and over, but if you’ve ever read my blogs before – you should that’s just what I do!  The beauty of this small Iowa community never ceases to amaze me, time and time again.

After hearing the school report from Doug Gee of all the advancements and progress of growth in our buildings as well as how are students are thriving, my heart is happy and warm.

Then the mayor stepped up, giving a rundown of all the developments that occurred over the year in town and how we’re on the path for success to make 2022 amazing in Clear Lake.  The economic boom of new business and the expansion of existing businesses is top notch.

You know how they say, “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings?”

Well… every time a new business comes to town, the Chamber of Commerce does a jig of glee!

Totally the same!

During the rapid-fire portion of the program, new employees and promotions were announced.  Business leaders gave updates on upcoming events and things of interest for the community. There is a lot of moving and shaking going on across Clear Lake, all in a positive direction!

All in all – a great morning to be a Clear Laker!

So, here’s hoping for a weekend of “regular” winter weather, local retail therapy, and preparing for the upcoming Christmas holiday.
