I missed my weekly Feel Good Friday blog post last week, as I was in the sunny climes of the US Virgin Islands. Always an adventure to spend a week on an island in the Caribbean, though it did feel nice to come home.
Mostly, because it seems winter dissipated during my absence.
Now, I’m well aware this is one of the many “fake” seasons we experience here in North Iowa. Old Man Winter likely will have at least one more tantrum to throw, forcing us back into the snowy abyss before the “real” spring arrives.
Still, even if it’s fake, I’ll take it. I found an extra skip in my step as I navigated through the workweek with warmer temps and ample amounts of sunshine each day, watching the ice begin to melt and bring back our beloved Clear Lake to its liquid form! I didn’t even care that my children brought all the mud from the school playground home with them on their coats and shoes. In fact, it turns out there’s very little that seems to bother me when the sun is shining, and the birds are chirping!
Clear Lake began to amp up preparations for the annual Earth Day Celebration. You can still get a super-cool t-shirt if you get signed up for the 5K/10K event on April 23rd at the seawall. A true sign of Spring coming just around the corner, the Earth Day committee has a slew of activity planned for the community, including the Trash Bash and the Green Expo.
On Thursday of this week, Chamber Members White Barn Picket Fence, Grace & Strength Boutique, The Funky Zebras, and Tried & True held a Spring Fashion Show at the Clear Lake Arts Center. Tickets to the event were a mere $10 which included delicious snacks from CharcuteMe and various wines to enjoy. Patrons enjoyed seeing the many upcoming styles of spring in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Each attendee received coupons to be used at the participating stores during March, and a variety of fun door prizes were given out throughout the night.
Girls’ Night for the Win!!
And now, here we are on the cusp of another weekend. We will be teased even a bit more as Saturday looks to promise an incredibly warm day, but along with it the threat of dangerous storms.
I suppose if it’s not the “snow” kind of storm, I can handle it!
All part of the beauty of living in Iowa, right? You don’t need to worry about getting too attached to the weather, because it’s bound to change in the blink of an eye.
Have a spectacular weekend at the Lake, my friends. It’s time to get excited for all the fun just over the horizon. Your local Chamber of Commerce is working diligently to ensure your spring and summer is filled with fun in the sun making memories to last a lifetime.
In Clear Lake – that’s not hard to do!
