Pastel Seasons: Recent Pastels Portraying the Midwest by Tom Christopher
Celebrate the vibrant pastel paintings of Tom Christopher. This exhibit highlights Christopher’s beautiful approach to working with pastels of various landscapes depicting different seasons shown throughout the Midwest. The Pastel Seasons exhibit will be on display until December 20th.
Arts Center is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Exhibit runs through December 20, 2024.

The Pork Tornadoes
This band is a force like no other. Creating a party wherever they go. Followed by a ravenous fan base. Every song will leave you singing along and begging for more. The area’s premier party band. You have heard it all before. Most band biographies are as trite as dating website profiles and equally filled with empty promises and broken dreams. The issue here is that The Pork Tornadoes fit the mold of all the cliche statements but are reluctant to use them.
Their live show does the talking for them; the shroud of mystery surrounding the band, the terribly-poor choice in band name, and the head-scratching, enormous amount of video views (14 million views on all platforms) and fans on every social media website (90,000 followers) are enough to bring curious music lovers out to a show to see what all the fuss is about.
The Pork Tornadoes are a powerful party band that has played all around the Midwest at the best and biggest bars, venues and festivals. Having played more than 600+ shows in the last 12 years, this band has perfected their live show into an experience you won’t find anywhere else. The band is led by singer Mason Greve, whose is arguably one of the best vocalists in the State of Iowa and was one of 100 finalists on a Not-To-Be-Mentioned television singing program in 2014. Putting their own spin on an eclectic mix of songs from Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift to Lizzo, The Killers, Coolio and Phil Collins, they are truly one of the most versatile bands around. Their debut EP peaked on the Apple iTunes Pop charts at #20 and was streamed over half a million times in 2020. They recently achieved viral success with the 5th-most viewed cover of ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ on Youtube and a impromptu performance of ‘In the Air Tonight’ with a drum line that was featured in Rolling Stone. Mystery Book Club: Open Season
The Mystery Book Club meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm in the library. December’s selection is Open Season by CJ Box. Summary: Joe Pickett is the new game warden in Twelve Sleep, Wyoming, a town where nearly everyone hunts and the game warden—especially one like Joe who won’t take bribes or look the other way—is far from popular. When he finds a local hunting outfitter dead, splayed out on the woodpile behind his state-owned home, he takes it personally. There had to be a reason that the outfitter, with whom he’s had run-ins before, chose his backyard, his woodpile to die in. Even after the “outfitter murders,” as they have been dubbed by the local press after the discovery of the two more bodies, are solved, Joe continues to investigate, uneasy with the easy explanation offered by the local police.
