Whirlwind Week

Whirlwind Week

How can it be Friday morning?  I swear I just wrote the Feel Good Friday blog for last week and, yet, here we are again already.  I guess when there are so many amazing things happening at the Lake it makes the adage true:  Time flies when you’re having fun!

Last Friday, the Chamber team hosted the first event of the season out at Veterans Memorial Golf Course.  The 4-person best shot is such a great FUNdraiser, even with social distancing and all the extra precautions taken this year.

Thank you to everyone who participated.  The weather was beautiful and the fun plentiful.  Plus, people who did amazing things got to win stuff – you can’t beat that!  For a complete list of winners, please check out our Facebook Page.

Now, I’m sure you’ve heard about this next tidbit of goodness in Clear Lake, because it was plastered all over social media and on the tip of the tongue of many people around town.  If you’ve been down Main Ave recently, you might notice an interesting addition at Cookies Etc.

They’ve installed a Cookie ATM.

This temperature-controlled ATM is located near the entrance of their store and is filled with cookies and bottled water on top, and frozen ice cream cookie sandwiches and ice cream novelties on the lower half.  It’s basically a game-changer for any and all after hour sweet treat emergencies.

Again… genius.

This week also culminated a long-standing summer pastime for the youngsters: the end of ballgames.  While the Youth Athletic League wrapped their season on Tuesday, the Clear Lake Lion high school baseball and softball seasons came to an end as well.

After the whirlwind spring and the fear of no summer sports, I’m glad these kids got to play at all.  It was good for them to have something to look forward to, even if there were nights we thought we’d melt in the stands!

While we took last week off from Food Truck Friday due to the golf outing, the event is back again this week with an extra-special-added bonus!  Central Gardens will host the vendors this evening from 5-7PM.  Ritz Rings ‘N Things will be on hand to fulfill all those onion ring cravings.  On side note, I am well aware the 'things' portion of their menu is incredible, but those RINGS.  Mmmmmm… so good.  In addition, the Lions Club will be serving up sweet corn for your enjoyment!

Round out that meal with dessert from Perry’s Sweet Treats and you should be set to sail blissfully into another weekend at the Lake.  Life doesn’t get much better than good food, and it’s even better when you’re at the Lake, folks!

It seems Mother Nature is scheduled to have a bit of a hot flash this weekend.  I hope y’all stay cool and hydrated while you’re out and about enjoying our beautiful town.  It’s the perfect chance to soak up some lake time and fill your tank to get you through this winter.

And remember, friends, please be kind.  Our businesses and restaurants are doing everything they can to ensure your safety as well as the safety of their staff.

Cheers to another weekend in paradise!
