In a time of uncertainty and unease in our homes, communities and country, the people of this region never cease to amaze me. I’ve been trying to days to find the silver lining of this whole debacle. Why is this happening? What are we meant to learn from this all?
Community. Community is the answer.
Banding together. Putting the needs of others in front of your own. Leaning on one another.
Here at the Chamber, we are doing everything we possibly can to ease some of the worry floating through the empty streets. The new “Buy-In Clear Lake” initiative kicked off last night and was a HUGE success. So much so, that other businesses and individuals have stepped forward so we can do it again.
Yet, for some people, that fear lingers as they’ve lost their only source of income for the time being. The bills continue arrive in their mailbox as anxiety fosters within. It’s hard to remain calm, but that’s the best thing to do right now. One day at a time. One obstacle at a time. You’re likely not going to come up with a solution to fix everything all at once, so don’t panic.
Make a plan. Follow the plan. Do what you can to keep your head above water until they lift the restrictions. I’m not sure how long it will be until we resume “business as usual” or, honestly, if we’ll ever really get back to that point.
I hope we do. I hope we get there with a new outlook on life. I hope we come out of this stronger, with fresh eyes to see our community and our nation. To appreciate all we have, be thankful for the opportunity to live life to the fullest.
Hang in there, Clear Lakers. We’re all in this together!
