School’s Out For… Thirty Days!?!

School’s Out For… Thirty Days!?!

It’s been playing in my head all morning.  That old Alice Cooper rock song.  While many of the lyrics are not appropriate to post on a blog of this sort, the first line of the chorus seems fitting for our current situation.

What a crazy world we live in right now.  Remember last year when we all (and by ‘we all’ I mean ME) complained about school being closed for 3 days when the boys went to State Basketball and then the following week was Spring Break?  Seems pretty silly right now, doesn’t it?  Our kids will remember this for a lifetime.  They’ll tell their kids about it, who will likely tell their kids about it.

Someday, it’ll all be a memory and we’ll wonder how we made it through.

Well, we’re Clear Laker’s, that’s how we’ll make it through this.  I have the utmost faith in our school district and our teaching staff that they will do everything in their power to help parents as we navigate through uncertain times.  I have no worries that any resources we need will be provided and help offered for whoever needs it.

Now is the time to pull together.  To keep our chins up and help one another – all while keeping a safe social distance from other humans and diligently practicing good hygiene and hand-washing!

I have seen countless info-graphics and website links for fun activities and ideas to keep your little ones busy for the next 30 days.  I've gathered a list of some options I think might be relevant for you; however, keep in mind that there are literally HUNDREDS of more options for online learning and such.

Now, I know it’s crazy overwhelming, as this is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s available out there.  Be sure to check into online apps and such for free codes.  Many companies are offering them for the time being and likely are not included on this list.

Now, parents, take a deep breath.  Your child does not need to tackle everything today.  We’ve got 30 days.  Let’s take it one day at a time.  One activity at a time.

We’re Clear Laker’s, you guys.  We’ve got this!

See ya – virtually, or within a safe social distance – at the Lake!
