Here’s Why you Need to give it a TRI!

Here’s Why you Need to give it a TRI!

So how’s that New Year’s Resolution coming along?  Are you eating better? Exercising more?

Well, it’s kind of hard to stick to your guns and keep at it when there’s nothing (besides being healthy and weight loss) pushing you to succeed.

So… maybe you should sign up for TRI Clear Lake, and give yourself a reason to really get after it!

If you’ve never done a sprint triathlon before, there’s really nothing to be afraid of.  The team of volunteers will help you, answering any questions or concerns you may have about what to do, where to go, and all that good stuff.

If you don’t believe me… here’s a testimonial from Gunther Langhart, who chose TRI Clear Lake as his first triathlon attempt!

“TRI Clear Lake was my first triathlon and it was a great experience.   I liked the route and the people who put on the event were great.  It was a very easy going atmosphere with everyone encouraging each other to finish.  Lots of TRI gear later, I can thank TRI Clear Lake for getting me hooked on the sport.  I will be doing it again this year.”

Scott Krecl, also a first-timer, says, “Clear Lake was fantastic!  Number one, the staff and volunteers were great.  Friendly, encouraging and knowledgeable.  Loved the informational brief the evening before to help get an understanding of the transition area, rules, and expectations.  No question went unanswered.

The transition area was clearly marked so you knew exactly where to rack your bike and gear.  The course was very well laid out and the transitions between swim, bike and run were straight forward.  The end was amazing with all the food, refreshments, massages, etc.  The finisher medal is was so nice and well designed.  Really like it!  I was also impressed with the award ceremony; it was great to get all the finisher info right after the race.  Looking forward to participating again this year!

Now, if you think these guys were only pleased with the race because TRI Clear Lake was their first event, you’d be terribly wrong.  We’ve had the pleasure of hosting some very seasoned athletes in our little lake town.  Many of whom boast extremely incredible accomplishments in the sport.

For example, Allie Bachelder, has this to say about TRI Clear Lake.

I love every aspect of Tri Clear Lake and will be doing it again this year for my third year.  This race is an excellent race for beginners as well as more advanced triathletes.  The course has so many great volunteers to make sure it is safe and fast.  The after party is amazing with the drinks, food, music and incredible prizes.  The goodie bag you receive at check in is the best I have received at any race.  This is a small town race with so many perks.  It is by far one of my favorite races every year.”

And she’s not just blowing smoke either.  Allie has completed:

*5 half ironman races

*Many Olympic sized and sprint races

*Qualified for age group nationals twice

*USA swim coach

*High school swim coach

*Spinning instructor

So yeah, I’d bet she knows what she’s talking about!  After doing so many other races, THIS ONE is by far one her favorites every year!!

And she’s not the only one who thinks so.  Josh Giddings, another seasoned athlete, said the following:

“The Clear Lake Tri is an event that I truly enjoy doing every year. There are so many things that make this race great for all levels of athletes, beginners or seasoned.  I have been involved with the sport of triathlon since 2004 and have competed in many events locally in the state of Iowa and also national events such as Ironman, Lifetime, and Xterra races in Utah, Tennessee, Florida, Colorado and many many more.  As a sponsored member of Team Zoot Clear Lake is a race that I love to do each year.  The competition continues to grow and grow each year.  It’s organized by triathletes, so they “get it” and understand how to put on a quality race, and understand what athletes want when signing up for a race.  It’s a great community and a great place to bring the whole family to enjoy a nice weekend on the water after the race.  2019 schedule is set with races in Alabama, Colorado, and Hawaii, but you can bet that I will be in Clear Lake in June!!!  Give it a shot, whether it’s your first one or you’re a seasoned athlete!  The venue couldn’t be any better for a race!!

There you have it, folks, out of the mouths of babes!  Or in this case… athletes!

Get signed up for TRI Clear Lake.  It’s guaranteed to be a great event!
