Here we are again, Clear Lakers, at the close of another week. It’s hard to believe the entire month of April has passed us by while at home in isolation.
Although the weeks can sometimes be long and cumbersome, the Chamber Team has tried to be an uplifting force, pulling you all through to the lighter side. It’s been a challenge, especially as we see our local businesses hurting, worried about their financial situations due to the global pandemic.
So today, let’s round out the week with a little joy, okay? A little sunshine to brighten your day, lift your spirit, and send you sailing into the weekend with a twinkle in your eye, a smile on your face, and some pep in your step!
First up, we need to recognize the incredible generosity of the Cookies Etc. ice cream sundae event last Friday. In case you missed it, they offered FREE chocolate or strawberry sundaes and gathered a free will donation for the Food Bank supporting Ventura and Clear Lake.
Cars lined Main Street as little by little, their bucket began to fill. The money donated will help stock the shelves of the Food Bank and feed so many local families.
Next, is the Adopt a Senior Program on Facebook. What a great way to show some love for our CLHS class of 2020! These kids, whew, they’ve really had one heck of a school year to finish out their days at Clear Lake High School. Something they will remember for the rest of their lives, for sure!
The program works when a Facebook post is made about the student, telling a bit about their activities in school and plans for the future. When someone ‘adopts’ the student, they pledge to send a letter, card, gift, gift card, snack, anything to let them know we’re all rooting for them.
It’s such a fun, heartwarming way to give these kids a little something extra to brighten their day. Especially after they missed out on so many rites of passage this year!
The final bit of information makes me giddy with glee. That’s because Ritz Rings & Things is going to be in the Surf Ballroom parking lot on Saturday, May 2nd from 4-7pm.
That’s right… ONION RINGS!!!!
Unfortunately, as the Surf has had to cancel so many events lately, their coolers are overflowing. They need help to lighten the load. So, stop on out to grab a six-pack or some drinks to stock your fridge at home! Then you can mosey on over to grab some food or just a bunch of onion rings before you head for home.
Please keep social distancing standards in mind when attending and know that on-site consumption is not allowed. You must take your food and drinks to go!
The weather looks to be in our favor this weekend, creating plenty of opportunities to get outside for a walk, a bike ride, a stroll along the seawall. The sunshine and the favorable temps warming us all from the inside out, creating a renewed hope as Spring begins to pop up all around us.
Have a great weekend, friends.
We’ll see ya – at a socially acceptable distance – at the Lake!
