Man, what a week it has been. With the cooler temps and less humidity, it almost felt like fall was on the horizon.
From what I hear, summer is not quite done yet, and we can expect a scorcher this weekend.
Seems like perfect weather for being at the Lake if you ask me!
I did have a super-duper, incredibly awesome surprise to share with y’all about Chamber Member, Cookies Etc. today, but due to some unforeseen glitches out of their control, we’ve had to push it back to next week. But trust me, it’s definitely worthy of a happy dance!
As I type this, the Chamber staff is hosting their first event of the season, their annual golf FUNdraiser. FINALLY! With all the craziness this year has brought forth, a little bit a normalcy might be just the ticket to tide us over for a while. To qualm any fears and anxiety people may be feeling about the uncertainty teetering on the horizon.
Speaking of uncertainty, if you are a parent in the Clear Lake School District, you should have received a survey via email about learning in the upcoming school year. To voice your needs, concerns, hesitations, or general thoughts on the topic, be sure to fill it out before the July 24th deadline.
And while we’re on the topic of the school, if you haven’t driven by Lion’s Field recently, you need to! They began laying the turf this week and it looks incredible. What an exciting time in our school district to be able to provide such incredible facilities for our children. I think I’m the most excited for the new bleachers. It’s going to be such an awesome upgrade from the old, dilapidated stands!
Fingers crossed we get to have football games and (my favorite) watch the marching band perform at half time this year!
For all the foodies out there, this is your weekend, friends! We’ve got Ritz Rings ‘N Things popping up around town, and Lake Time Brewery has Barrel Chicken available (must pre-order). It’s supposed to be a hot one and no one likes to cook in the dreadful heat – so be sure to check these places out!
In my state of perpetual insomnia this week (the mom stress and anxiety has hit an all time high, folks) I had to laugh at where my brain bounces to each night. Once I’m finished mulling over all my life choices for the past 20+ years since high school, my thoughts typically drift to the lake.
I think about being on my floaty as the waves gently roll in from boats speeding by in the distance. I think about the way the cool water feels after walking barefoot across the hot sand beach. The sound of the water slapping against the rocks soothes my soul and the beauty of a sunset on any given day is enough to bring me to tears.
It’s the thought of living in paradise that often helps me find sleep again.
So this weekend, as you are out and about enjoying the wonderful amenities our town has to offer, take a moment to let the beauty around you sink in. Really sink in.
Be safe, friends. Remember to keep your distance, wash your hands, practice good hygiene, and wear a mask when in public.
See you at the Lake! Have a great weekend!
